Hi guys have two questions about emulation:

Which MAME version works best with the japan ROM? I'm getting no sound. I've also tried doing twiddle's trick here http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=15535 to unlocking the ships, but I don't see "DAYS OF OPERATION" after following the steps indicated (esp after holding the service and test buttons, all they show is flick from OFF to ON). Could someone give me a walkthrough?

Can we use another version of the ROM (US, etc.) is scoring different, etc?

Thanks so much guys, really enjoying this tournament.

After many failed attempts trying to score against Red Eye, finally bagged the sonovabitch with a quick kill.

I'm getting popped quite regularly either in the sky stage, or towards the end of the Sand Lobster stage, which is annoying, and needs some safe strategies figured out. About 1.5mil off my personal best - scattered bonuses, scratch points, and more accurate play on Red Eye should get me 1mil at least. Aiming for 102mil by the end of the week.

Gameclip is up on J-XBLA leaderboards, now third overall. Time for a break, got a bit of a headache going on.

Just curious, because even when I have time I can't support even 1,5 h straight (I would like know if I am lazy).

Depends on the game. RF2 is quite intense, so I put in about two to three full credits each time (at about 20-25min per credit), and then take a break of anything between half an hour (smoke and a cup of tea) to a couple of hours (chillout, relax, and eat/watch something). I've actually had the 360 on since 11am this morning, picking at the last few stages in Training Mode, and sessioned the last hour or two on straight through credits in between intermittent breaks.

It's the same routine I have whenever I take part in a competition - reserve a few hours, sit down and train the hard parts over and over, then run a couple of credits and see what happens. Compared to SiK though, I have to work harder to get my scores.

Luckily I lots of experience with the RF series, which helped a bit. ^_-

You already know what Service is, and test is 7 by default iirc. If pressing 2 while holding those does not increase days of op, your keyboard is probably not able to handle that number of buttons pressed at once. Try mapping service and test to the same button, and then remapping them back to their defaults once you hit 140.

Definitely will be playing this more during the week. But I kinda have to attack it the same way Icarus does.. just 2-3 credits at a time and then turn it off and go do something else for a while. Although, I will say that the RF series, in general, seems to be much easier to pick back up after having not played for a while than practically any other shmup series I can think of.
