Updated, and sweet job Battletoad.

Yeah, stage 7's scoring is just trivial really. You're probably going to want to start refining your stage 5 and 6 boss times now. COME ON

The multiplier was not too good but I did boss 5 in 57s and boss 6 in 128. I got my goal in this run. The game is not too hard if you want all but for score it is very hard,
- You can't simply reflect bullets you need reflect bullets in one strict time and way.
- The train and boss 4 is very random/hard for control some times this bitchs don't shoot nothing at you fucking your multiplier progression.
- kill the boss 5 in right time is stupidly hard if you have only one minimal fail you will kill it in one bad time or will get hit.

I guess I will play one little more this, but only one total control above train an stage 4 boss (I don't know if this is possible) can give results.
Cool!

crithit5000 - 18'4764'0572'0070 - Ruby - Stage 5 - Dreamcast

Edit #1:

Score Attack Stage 1
crithit5000 - 159'3858'7314'2270 - Ruby

Could've been slightly better; the boss timed out.

Edit #2:

Score Attack Stage 2
crithit5000 - 31'1208'2207'7070 - Ruby

Absolutely terrible, two deaths and bad boss milking.

Edit #3:

Score Attack Stage 3
crithit5000 - 29'3164'5058'3740 - Ruby

No no no no, bad.

Edit #4:
Score Attack Stage 4
crithit5000 - 24'4713'5585'6310 - Ruby

Totally not even trying stage 5 today.

You get such a stage 1 score with a timeout?? What a shame... I thought my score wasn´t so bad. For stage 3, I always do awful there. You may be bad, but at least better than me (if that´s worth anything).

Nice to get the list filled a little bit, keep it on (if you´re not annoyed by the harsh pace like I was at times).
Did you turn off the sound? ^^

Yeah, I was kind of surprised myself, really. I thought I did okay at best, and there's definitely room for improvement.
Battletoad wrote:You may be bad
What's throwing me off on Score Attack on stages that are not 1, is that you start off with no powerups. Playing as Ruby on Score Attack like this is...throwing me off completely, hence the bad scores. I seriously have to rethink most of my strategies with this handicap; best example is the train on stage 3. As Ruby, you can't even speed kill the entire thing. It will get away if you try to do that. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I'm going to see if I clear the game first.
Battletoad wrote:Did you turn off the sound? ^^
I wish. I'm one of those players who uses the music/audio for cues; I've done that ever since Ikaruga. I was quite surprised when I made it to stage 5 today and heard the drastically different music. Stage 2's remix is kind of all right, but the rest...blech.

Yeah, to me that´s simply bad design. Often you aren´t fully powered up on the bosses and especially the later stages are extremely weird to begin with no powerups. I also had trouble there, especially with the train and the same stage´s boss. The second worst design aspect of the game. Top spot would go to the Reflect Force needing almost a complete second to activate...

Good luck on clearing that bitch!

Battletoad - 45'3146'3828'9360 - Isha - ALL - Mame
Multiplier: 16,8 million

Well, 50 trillion should definitely be possible. Got a better multiplier, but still used too many bombs. Especially the thrown bomb on the stage 4 boss shouldn´t have happened, I got caught stupidly there. Otherwise pretty good run.

EDIT: Oh time bonusses werer also better. 44 seconds for stage 5 (I think that´s now hard to improve with Isha and no bombs) and something over 80 seconds on stage 6 (could still be improved for at least 10 seconds).

I just had my best game at Giga Wing. It's nothing compared to what you guys have, but I was surprised by how much better I did than ever before. I don't know what stage I got to.

I got this on my CPS2 board in my cabinet. I started as the purple ship.

Chainclaw, my eyesight is kind ehhhh and your screenshot's a little hard to read...I'll put you down for what looks to be 1'0538'3347'8220 with Sinnosuke (worst ship in the game, btw), but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Scoreboard updated.

Edit: Also changed all instances of Raijin to Sinnosuke for consistency.

Oops, sorry about that, somehow I just didn't notice the post formatting until you guys pointed that out.

I figured there was something wrong with that ship, the boss fight on the level before I died it seemed like I couldn't do enough damage to kill it straight up, let alone try and farm medals off him.

Dammit!! Missed the 50 trillion and the ALL.
Well next time I guess...

Battletoad - 49'4983'8658'7260 - Isha - Stage 7 - Mame

But anyways I entered the top 10 and that´s pretty freakin´ awesome. :D

I managed to spare my bombs several times, but the rank really gets brutal then.

Still didn´t make the 50 trillion... Either I miss the ALL or don´t score good enough or both. Last ALLs were between 45 and 49.3 trillion.

2 days ago my new Dreamcast arrived and I thought I should throw in some Score Attack.

Stage 3
Battletoad - 37'9146'6225'3510 - Isha
I´m coming 8) No not really... don´t know how to improve especially because the boss refuses to shoot much.

Stage 5
Battletoad - 67'1514'9994'7070 - Isha
Stage 7
Battletoad - 5'1719'6315'0390 - Isha

EDIT: Did I say "regret"? I meant "refuse" of course.

EDIT 2:
Stage 6
Battletoad - 106'4007'5836'9970 - Isha
Stage 7
Battletoad - 19'4475'7705'5060 - Isha

Yeah finally another digit for both stages. Stage 6 is really hard on the Dreamcast since it was one whole slowdown in the Arcade version.
I find the difference to Giga Wing 2 Score Attack kind of funny... there the end of stage bonus is worth almost nothing, in GW1 it´s sometimes 90% of the whole score.

Score Attack

Stage 2
Battletoad - 118'6605'7782'7330 - Isha
Stage 3
Battletoad - 50'9754'5952'7110 - Isha

Woh first place on stage 3 by only a few billions... ;)
But somehow it´s weird how effective milking is even if you don´t destroy the boss. Just be sure to no miss no bomb the stage so you have 3 bombs at the end which give a huge point bonus.

Got MAME running on my new computer and Just started playing this.

Mr_Soren - 5092'6183'0410 - Ruby - Stage 3 - MAME (j)

First time getting to stage 3, and I reached the boss. I know it's not a great score, but it's a starting point.

Practice survival! You won't be seeing good scores until you can no-miss/no-bomb the first three stages consistently.

I had only been making incremental improvements all week, and it was Isha who was working out for me. Anyway, figured I'd test out my long-standing theory (developed during two STGT tournaments) that my best games are always the second credit on Saturday morning. Went back to good ol' Ruby and did this:

Mr_Soren - 2'0110'1485'5560 - Ruby - Stage 4 - MAME (j)

This was my first time to Stage 4. I cleared the first three stages without dying, but I must admit I was out of bombs. Got past the stage 4 mid-boss still with no bombs, but then started dying a lot and losing my cool. I regained my composure for a bit at the stage 4 boss, and put up a good fight despite having 0 lives and only 1 bomb, but I eventually got panicked and crashed into a bullet.

Anyway, always happy to add a digit to my score, and I'm finally in the trillions like all the cool kids.

Phew... After another break I finally reached my goal and climbed up another spot!

Battletoad - 50'8976'3013'4750 - Isha - ALL - Mame

Very happy that I got the 50 trillion and this score in an ALL run, too. :D
It was too frustrating to throw no bombs (and thus die way too often), so I threw one in stage 3 and 4 each. After stage 5 I then had 2 lives and 2 bombs left. Time bonusses were as usual and I always had 2 bombs left after the last stages. I was really nervous in stage 7 and should have died in at least 2 completely silly actions... I was quite lucky there. But therefore I died a microsecond before I had a barrier activated. Unfortunately I don´t know about my multiplier, was 15.4 million before the stranger, so probably between 16 and 17 million in the end.

So I´m done with the Arcade version. Perhaps I´ll try to push the Dreamcast version to at least 25 trillion. This would be almost the maximum if I don´t get past stage 6 there.

Oh I couldn´t just let it go...
It´s once again too much fun. And with less pressure now I managed to get my multiplier much higher. I especiallly improved my stage 5 tactics where I took more risk and got a much higher medal value (3800 before the boss instead of 3100 the last time). Final multiplier: 18.9 million. Unfortunately I screwed up the stranger a bit. In the end I had no bombs left, otherwise I probably could have had 58 or 59 trillion points.

Don´t worry... Unless I get a look at third_strike´s Isha replay, I have no idea how to get 70 trillion points. Ah I see I don´t even have the replay anymore (the Wolfmame version somehow didn´t work, so I couldn´t watch it) and it´s not any longer available on Rapidshare either. Could someone please send it to me, I´d like to try it again and on another PC.

You better get playing the Dreamcast version again because I can´t imagine that you´re not able to beat my lousy score. ;)
