Thanks for picking this one instead of 1999. Not really a fan of technical bonuses.

I've heard more than the once that the Saturn version has slowdowns not present in any other versions, and this may lead to unfair advantage. You guys should choose if that's fair or not. I don't have the Saturn one.

But the PS1 and PS2 play different enough on Original 2 (the "not wooble mode") to also be a different challenge. The turrets on the Iron Casket level, for example, stop shooting much earlier, while some patterns in certain bosses are different to "fit" on the screen.

Also have you guys ever noticed that if you keep holding the button while you don't have any "charge power", you will be able to auto-fire? I've just noticed that, had never tried it before :)

I'm really digging this game, though I'm not doing too well at it so far (better now than when I actually posted this). I like the variety of player ships - Flying Pancake's homing lasers, Hayate's enemy-seeking options that were oh so annoying in RFJ but are awesome here, Shinden's multi-hit ghost missile things, Ta152's power missiles and bullet-absorbing special attack...I also like that I don't feel constrained to a single ship like with RFJ, and I like being able to see the bullets.

I had totally forgotten how utterly poor the game looks. However, it's the gameplay that matters. And that's just awesome. Yay for Psikyo!

Psikyo is cool but I'm crap at their games. I have this for Saturn but I'm not sure if I want to dig up a TATEable monitor to play it on.

If you don't remember the designation, just say the name of the ship. My program will change it automatically.

"dex - putting in effort so you don't have to!" ;)

Also I actually feel obliged to remind that this being a Psikyo game, the first 4 stages are at random order. Hence, try avoiding using a savestate for restarts and reset instead in order to ensure you get random stage order. Thanks!

The really awful slowdown in the Saturn version is limited to the midway point in the ice boat stage. However, I hardly consider it any sort of advantage. It feels very awkward and can easily throw off your timing in collecting the gold bars.

Maybe I'm missing something, but autofire's not working. It still charges up that bomb shot instead of firing constantly when I enable it.

Edit: Nevermind. Found the problem. This game has player 1 and player 2 reverse on the autofire list.

Great then :)

I'm sucking on the game so far. Couldn't get past 1-4 so far. Damn, I am rusty... a few years ago I would reach at least 1-5 in 9 of 10 credits. I've reached 1-8 a few times...

I hate psikyo games with the fire of a thousand suns. I'm being serious now: can someone explain the attraction of psikyo games? i think maybe i am missing something. i never got these games. they make me mad at unfathomable levels when i play them. gunbird is more tolerable than strikers for me at least. they are the only company that makes me livid everytime i play one of their games. i wish i could like them. why do i hate them so much?

I hate this one less with the sound off.

Other than that, I try to persevere and not get angry at it. Really not liking patterns that get too tight to weave through though :(

I like the bullet speeds in this game. Some patterns do get a bit tight but I guess it comes down to remembering when it happens.
