Truxton
Truxton is nearly 20yrs old from its original arcade release. So posting a non completion score is hardly gonna give you brownie points of appreciation. The real challenge for this game is 1st loop completion with 1st life, max firepower and bombs.drboom wrote:Not sure what you mean...
I am working for the loop, but I found it funny that I had never broken 300K and then I do so - with a 400K score.
Honestly, I think its each area that represents the actual 'milestone' kind of challenge.

Ruldra - 1,013,470 - Area 145 - MAME
Death on stage 4. I'm playing the japanese version (Tatsujin), it's a little bit harder than Truxton.
Is yojo still around? Last update was in march.

I don't know if yojo is around, but still keep posting your progress Ruldra

Ruldra - 1,191,550 - Area 168 - MAME
Made it to stage 5. I think I can handle all the enemies in the game now, expect for the midboss right before the final boss. That one is driving me nuts.

Treasure of the Rudras?
Quick spelling check on the highscore thread yojo!

Re: Truxton
Who's Rudra?
Anyway...
Ruldra - 1,540,420 - Area 222 - MAME
First loop clear! No-missed to stage 5, then it was a complete disaster. I was dying all over the place, but I had so many spare lives I made it to the end (killed the final boss with a single spare life though). Japanese version.

Re: Truxton
Wouldn't mind playing the jap version, but i dont think anyone here in the uk has the pcb.
Re: Truxton
I actually have the japanese PCB (yes it says tatsujin on title screen), what's the difference between this and other territories?
PS. real glad to see life in this thread again. Motivated me to install the pcb again and practice. I'm really determined to beat the first loop now.

Re: Truxton
The difference is barely noticeable, but Tatsujin is a little bit harder than Truxton. You can notice that the first midboss fires its laser more often in the japanese version.
By the way, I found out that you can sit on top of the second boss core and none of his bullets will come your way. If you're at full power, you should kill him as he's about to leave the platform. But killing him too quickly will make a wave of enemies come from behind, so you need to be ready for that.
Also, area 200 is the end of the first loop.

Re: Truxton
The difference between Truxton and Tatsujin isn't enough to worry about. The real difference in difficulty lay in the harder prototype board with red lasers. The second loop onwards on the prototype had three-way spreads coming from the destruction of the ground enemies, instead of one. We still did a few loops of that anyway, and would have Counter Stopped it if it had been in the arcade a while longer.
Re: Truxton
Any idea how much that prototype fetch for ?
Re: Truxton
If it could be found....the sky is the limit
The red lasers were much more beautiful, plus it was the full game, unlike most other prototypes. We have asked the arcade owner where the board is, but we never get the answer. It could be in a stack in their Hanger Lane warehouse.

the fact that there is a difference makes it enough to worry aboutDEL wrote:The difference between Truxton and Tatsujin isn't enough to worry about.
