STGT2008 - Week #4 - Nomltest
Help! I've travelled miles to get to a PC so at least I can have a credit, and the game won't work - apparently it kind find the 'default resource'...
Any tips? I think this PC runs XP...
I'm only here for 12 hours - so anything would be great...
By the way, I download the zip - unzip it, and put all the contents in a folder together - is that right?

spadgy: When you unzip the game, there should be a folder named nomltest. In that folder, there should be a few files and a folder named default. Inside the "default" folder, there should be two folders named resource and script and a few files. Both the "resource" and "script" folder should have a few files in it.
Otherwise, maybe directx isn't installed on that computer?

Hmmm okay. I wouldn't mind breaking a million.

Scoreboard updated.
Stanski: awesome score.
Mrmonkeyman: Damn you!
Wow this non-participate competition is getting intense. I mean, Szycag played this week's game, disqualifying him from winning...unless if Famous Manic Week's game is so good that it draws out Zebra Airforce!
Oh the suspense is killing me!

Thanks so much! The problem was my inexperience with WinZip compared to my Mac equivlent, so everything was downloading without folders dividing it all up. You got me on track now, so at least I can submit some kind of score...sikraiken wrote:spadgy: When you unzip the game, there should be a folder named nomltest.
So here's my second attempt's score:
spadgy - Team Royale - 1,420,730, - 25 - 21
Now to work out what the hell the 'eating' is about!
I'm an idiot! Muddling up my cut and pasting!sikraiken wrote:Your welcome. : ) Sorry it was a hassle in the first place!
You might want to recheck your score - it's impossible with the level number you have.
Let's start again!
spadgy - Team Royale - 141,600 - 25 - 21
EDIT:
spadgy - Team Royale - 253,100 - 42 - 67
That's definately my score this time, too!
Shame - just I get a sence of what I'm up to I have to leave my brief flirtation with using a PC. I'll have some thoughts on this to add to the week four voting thread though. I was sceptical about including doujin's in STGT08 - now I might have been swung round, if not necerserily by the quality of this particular game...

Thanks Captain Obvious, I already knew that.
It's more to do with the fact that I eat a metric ton of bullets per go (mostly at max value) and barely make to my current best, and others are eating less and getting a higher score.
There's not much point in putting this relatively complex scoring system in if there's not much reward for taking the risks, is there? :/

Eat more max point bullets? Take advantage of the low level and eat as many bullets as possible from the bigger single shooter guys while still taking out formations. You can get up to max point value very fast, so take advantage of it!Icarus wrote:I must be doing something wrong if I'm eating over 2100 bullets per run but getting a crap score in the process. :/
Once you start dying, your score is basically finished...
