Yes. A no-miss/no-bomb replay would earn 30 million flat for the remaining expendables, but would also fail to get most of the "free" graze and above-PoC item pickups. A good portion of the in-stage score comes from being able to collect items from sigils that spawn after Patchouli: they're a pain to dodge through, and they disappear too quickly. That portion alone is worth a shitload of points that can't be attained without constant bombing.

I have the english patch applied... Is that ok? (patched over 1.02h)

And, interesting details. I never looked deep into EoSD scoring system. So this means we are entitled to bomb? Ok, I might also attempt a score at EoSD. With PatriotDark and this I've more than enough to keep myself entertained.

Thanks for the tips too.

No, you aren't entitled to bomb, unless you know exactly where to. :) Because otherwise it won't be profitable.

EoSD's scoring system is pretty balanced and flexible, but it requires the options be applied correctly (albeit probably less so than with PCB, which requires both prior and ad-hoc analysis depending on the immediate results).

Stupid pacing, argh. I couldn't even make it back to stage 5 last night. I'll try again today...

On a side-note, I think I'm getting better at Psikyo games.

At the end, I had exactly 0 lives and bombs.

Technically, that puts you at number 1 on the Marisa.B Normal board; got a replay for that?

I might have questioned you until you did. It's a learned habit, I guess.

Tip: try a specific touhou replay uploader next time. Just because it's better, or something. This could work, as well as this. That website is solid and seems to be maintained well. They even keep StB records.

Not requiring it, but it would be nice.

Haha, I guess that showed me!

I'll try a touhou-specific uploader next time; thanks.

Easy:
bsidwell - Marisa-B - 66,243,490 - ALL - 0.41%

Normal:
bsidwell - Marisa-B - 78,364,850 - 6- ???
Forgot to write down the slowdown rate on this one, but since it was on the same computer I doubt it was much over 0.5%.

Crappy score megapost!
Normal:
bsidwell - Reimu-A - 72,045,860 - 5 - 0.40%
bsidwell - Reimu-B - 62,040,800 - 5 - 0.39%
bsidwell - Marisa-A - 61,266,430 - 5 - 0.44%

I didn't think to save replays since I wasn't expecting any #1 scores.

[edit]New crappy score.
Normal:
bsidwell - Reimu-B - 75,443,620 - 5 - 0.41%
Replay is here but please don't actually watch it, it's terrible.

It's funny, but multiple WR holder OOSAKA has just improved his least-likely-to-be-improved record. His Extra score with Marisa-B now stands at 634 million, crazy.

Been playing this a bit lately and just got a decent clear so I figured I'd post it, board looks lonely ;_;. Not a huge touhou fan really, but 6 and 10 are really good. Hard is very very fun. Hopefully I can post a lunatic clear score soon enough.

Good scores. What allows the B types to score higher than the A types? As far as I know the scoring mechanics in this game are simply: Grazing gives you points and increases the value of cancelled bullets and increases the stage clear bonus, point item value is static, and cards give a bonus when no-miss/no-bombed. What else is there for scoring that gives the B types an advantage, score wise?

Reimu-B has a bomb which allows effective bullet canceling and its effect is short enough to be used to farm graze points. She also has the highest damage output at mid to close range and Patchouli patterns favorable for grazing.

Marisa-B has a very effective bomb for killing multiple enemies which enter the screen in large amounts or leaving it too fast (the reason she scores better in Extra), which is also great for bullet canceling. She has a decent damage output that is actually more convenient to use compared to A type.

And it makes that big of a difference eh? I use Reimu B (or whichever character has a straight needle shot depending on the game) in all the games, its just my preferred style. I've never even bothered going through most of the games with anyone else; I had totally forgotten that the stage 4s change depending on character lol. Also do card bonuses decay over time like they do in 10 or do you have to milk those too? I usually make an effort to POC for items whenever I can but I don't milk the bosses for graze (yet...), as I generally don't like boss milking unless it's Raizing . I'd like to put up some competition for Heartbeam here (lol more than doubled my Hard score ) but only if I can convince myself to milk and graze!

On a side note, stage 5 boss rapes my face, I think I have 0 captures on one of the time-freeze-knife cards on Hard (not the very last one but the second to last knife one). I've even captured all the final boss's cards at least once, so why is this damn stage 5 one SO GODDAMN HARD? And that one esprade ripoff card on stage 6 is harder than the final card too, what's with that, final card needs to be the hardest, ZUN!

Final card actually is the hardest in my opinion/experience; the previous one just looks harder, dodging it is simplier.

In trying to meet the standards of this post, a small effort. It should have been closer to...well, not important. Still far away from the world records.

Easy - Reimu B
Heartbeam - 128,336,050- ALL - 0.245% - Replay

Extra - Reimu B
Heartbeam - 382,578,640 - ALL - 0.143% - Replay

May as well post this one even if the category doesn't already exist. I'd like to fix Hard Reimu B and this run here (a miss on Flandre before QED and not on the noncard before Four-of-a-Kind), but the spark of interest for this game has fizzled for a bit.

Lunatic - Marisa A
Heartbeam - 232,631,130 - ALL - 0.260% - Replay

Just bombing some item-heavy spots and try not to fail the 1CC.

ESPrade ripoff one I mentioned was called "Scarlet Meister" which is like way harder than the final card for me. Somehow I've captured "The World" (the knife one I thought I had 0 captures on) which surprises me... though I still have 0 captures on "Illusional Misdirection".

Also, from when I first started doing eosd hard:

Step it up zun.

It is goddamn IMPOSSIBLE on Lunatic though, like 10x harder, it's absolutely ridiculous.

also I made a couple of scoring attempts... heartbeam is too good, no way I'm catching up to that any time soon
