There no power-downs, just temporary power ups when you do the rolling. Once your at max power it just stays the same no matter what anyway.

Just followed Macaws link to the flyer - previouisly I'd been rooling by accident. Now I know how to do it I can't wait to get back to the game...

How does it make to avoid bullets? Are you actually invincible while rolling or is it just that the technique changes your direction thus dodging a few bullets?

Heh, figured out the rolling trick a few hours ago on my own. Seems to be a burst of invincibility to bullets, at least. I find it a bit hard to pull off sometimes, and it takes long enough to set up that it's not a surefire desperation bombing replacement, I think :(

playing this game is no fun. Obscure and not shit just isn't enough.

Here's what I dislike:

I gave up adapting to the game's "system", as it ended in deaths. Collecting the yellow weapon, staying in the middle of the screen and spamming bombs at half-threats got me the farthest.
The roll is frustrating, as it takes too long after switching sides. It should be the other way round: long start up and quick after changing the direction.
The items move too fast and the weapons are unbalanced. There seems to be no proper level design. The graphics are bland and forgettable. Death absolutely fucks you and you have to bomb to regain power.
There's nothing fundamentally wrong, it's just not tweaked and balanced in a right way.

Well, the first level was doable, but a jittering backdrop nearly messes me over at the first boss.

What really gets me are bullets fired from the middle of the screen over a background that they blend into.

I've tried to treat it like a memorizer, but no luck so far.

I agree with this guy. Although the game looks pretty nice with it's shiny colors, I don't really like it. There's some parts of the game that are literally impossible if you don't have a decent weapon powerup. Like the wave of missiles in stage 2 (or was it 3?). If you just died and have shit power you can't destroy them in time, which means unavoidable death (or bomb). Bleh. At least there's plenty of bombs to make up for these moments.

I'll play it a couple of credits this weekend to beat shoe-sama though.

I don't think it's ever literally impossible - you can always do the roll attack and either possibly fly through a rocket or use the firepower bonus to take it out (just watch out for the four shots of "debris" spreading along the diagonals). Personally, I'm not too keen to try it out.

You do realize you can just not shoot the missiles at all to avoid them the easiest? Until it comes to the screen filling waves which are easy to shoot through.

And once you get to stage 3 the games starts giving out ridiculous amounts of MAX items so being too underpowered after a death is never really too much of an issue.

made it all the way to stage 4, only to be killed because I was near the left edge of the screen when a giant missle was to appear there. Excuse me Mr. missle. My bad.

However in final stage there are two waves of missiles that YOU HAVE TO BOMB, they spam your sides of screen :lol: however, i'm not going to post a new score right now xD two stupid deaths in stage 4 make me lose in stage 6
