shoe-sama - Chitta - 6- 1,195,150

everything went as planned until the 5th boss

I also suffered some bs deaths like gob-robo's flail hitting me while retracting (I was totally out of range lol)

Ed Oscuro - Chitta <3 - 4 - 378,730

Whew, for the first time I not only keep my promise to play "just one more," but I actually got something out of it this time!

I flailed away at the third boss with my bombs, 'cuz I had lost my impressive powerup stack before it. Got the extend, and barely squeaked through tha fight. Next round I had a number of bombs, which I should've used, but no powerups (new life), so I ended up getting trapped by bullets and squashed in a hurry. Pretty good playthrough though! :D

when you don't get climb'd up a wall and destroyed, and when you have powerups, I bet :D

my fervent hope is that I'll be able to make it next time

I go through stages 1 and 2 without shot powerups lol (to keep rank and thus enemy hp low for loop 2)

I powerup to max in 3 since I just stand in front of the boss arm for its arm spam attack thing
that and to kill the rocket punch robots things in 4 for 1k each

Does it matter where the bomb blast hits, or does it damage everything on the screen equally? Like, after the stage 3 boss comes down to the bottom of the screen and runs me over, after I reappear would it help to unload my bombs even while it's still down there?

I like how the current high scores all use Chitta but the 2 people with Chitta avatars in this thread, LGB is using Miyamoto and Ayanami isn't even in the tourney.

Yeah, but you can clear the first loop without any rank control so whatever. Or maybe you are just being facetious in which case good job, you are one step ahead of me.
ED-057 wrote:Does it matter where the bomb blast hits
Yes, you can test for yourself on the turtle fort in 1-1 for instance.

I like how the scores are all:

MILLIONS

~or~

Under half a million

Edit: not an intentional riff on Enhasa's post. Nice info there.

I actually have a score that's 714k or so, but I forgot to post it yesterday. Maybe I got such an odd score because I use Bornnam

Then again, I'm aiming to at least beat the first loop :P

Oh yeah, rank. There is rank, but I just saw a Japanese mame replay a couple of days ago that doesn't bother controlling rank (collects powerups for points) and beats both loops with a score of 3.8 million (WR is only 40k points higher IIRC). I'll probably post the link later even though I'm sure a couple of you know where to find it.

If you're wondering, the guy got around 1.9 million points both loops, but considering we only have 3-4 days left, none of us will collect as many points in the second loop as we did in the first loop (if any of us even manage to clear both loops).

Hey now, I didn't develop that callus in the trenches of flying shark so you could autofire your way past the sacrifices I made for king and kingdom

I played a couple short rounds of this on keyboard, entirely shit... hoping my stick parts arrive and I can finish rebuilding the bloody thing before this game ends. If not, there'll be a sub 100k score up on the boards for me :P

Due in part to his kickass F shot and the fact that his H shot is the most balanced of anyone. I'll try something else later though... Even so, I always use Chitta in Shippu because apparently Raizing though Miyamoto's W shot is a good F shot.

milkwuyuma: That's how you are supposed to play it. It's hard as hell, but not like Garegga.

ED-057: Yes, you can also test this on the stage 2 boss (the little wings it has). Actually what you should do is dodge that ram with all speed. If you can't quick enough, bomb before he hits you. He can't hit you because you have temp invincibility.

Gotta love those bombs...

Shatterhand - Bonham - 1-5 - 689,660

this was after 5 credits

How many levels does this have? 6? If its 6 then I see a 1cc coming very soon, unless level 6 goes all bezerk or something.

I always thought this game was utterly crap... now I find out it's just utterly boring... there are many parts where all you have to do is stand still and keep on firing. Boss 2 is kinda hard, but everything else is kinda easy and boring most of the time.

Also, is level 6 a scoring heaven or something? Because everyone who gets there also reach 1 million apparently...

Let's see how much I'll improve in the next days

stage 5 has lots of large enemies

you get to fight a crazier version of bashinet after loop 1 (its stage 6 last form except it uses both of its patterns at the same time)

just bomb the crap out of it

got to stage 6 this time. Found that you get a LOT of points in the "boss factory" on stage 5. Think I went into stage 5 with 500k and left with about 1mill. Died right away at the two headed dragon in stage 6 :?
