Haha, well said. Even though if you ignore the c74 version of banshiryuu and stick with the better c67 you won't end up with such bomb festival/massacre.

Anyways, here is my best attempt on normal run:
Normal: Ltc - 1,059,132,580 - ALL - Reimu A - 1.5% - 1.00a
http://replays.gensokyo.org/download.php?id=1622

I feel pretty bad for the 1.5% slowdown but not as bad as when I was playing during end stage 6 when the FPS started to go ballistics between 20fps and 60fps while my computer sounded like it was going to launch into orbit. Mainly the reason why I'm in the process of getting a new computer.

I will propably try other modes when I have the time

I'm not saying otherwise, it just seems weird a retroactive bomb is better than a preemptive one.

Finally beat the damn thing. Her 7th and 8th spell cards absolutely ruin me in terms of scoring, but I managed to survive (not capture) her last spell card on my first try, so I am sort of proud of that.

Extra:
Momijitsuki - 279,237,460 - ReimuB - C - 0.3%

Heck, why not :p (momiji told me to)

Extra:
crono_logical - 590,069,610 - ALL - Reimu-B - 0.1% - 1.00a

http://replays.gensokyo.org/download.php?id=2113

Had a nice run through the stage itself, but made one silly mistake at Suwako - dunno why I usually mess up at that particular spellcard :p

So I started up MoF first time in months. Extra feels a lot easier even though I haven't played it for ages. If it weren't for tons of retarded deaths in the later attacks this would've been a lot higher score :/

Extra:
LtC - 609,067,920 - C - Reimu-A - 0.0%

I really wish I could play the earlier windows games for score but it's totally impossible when the character lags behind me due to input lag >_<

Extra:
moozooh — 669,676,830 — C — Reimu-A — 0.1% (replay).

Died only once, which is surprising, because I miraculously escaped death twice by pure luck. Now I have over 2/3 of the WR, woo!

I'm very new to shmups, specially Touhou. I suck, i know :(

Easy:

lmagus - 188,010,690 - 6 - Reimu-A - 0.6% - 1.00a (replay)

I guess I'll try to get good at this game hehe

Welcome to the board. Some tips for getting good at the game:

1. Don't die, no matter what it takes. Each death is a huge blow to your score, especially early on. Better restart if you die in the first two stages, don't waste time catching up.

2. Memorize the key gaps in enemy formations that lead to loss of item chain. The most crucial ones to remember are two in the beginning on stage 3, entire stage 4 (hardest stage in the game to do properly), and one on stages 5 and 6.

thanks man.

i just watched your replay, those are neat tricks you do not to let your faith go down! and i never thought about bombing on top of the boss to get more points.

the last boss is too hard for easy mode :p i'll never finish the game unless i get to it with about 5 lives...

by the way do you use a keyboard or gamepad?

Japanese (?) player coa has just managed to get over 1 billion points on Extra. This is, by far, the most optimized shmup replay I have seen to date.

It's a shitty score, but I was really only messing around anyway. Haven't been playing any Touhou games much lately, so I decided to show this game some love since I haven't really touched it since I beat Extra back in February.

Anyway...

Hard:
Momijitsuki - 107,802,070 - 4 - Reimu-A - 0.2%

Easy:

lmagus - 357,322,900 - All - Reimu-A - 0.0% - 1.00a (replay)

finally beat this game tonight after many weeks without touching it... how can one get better without practicing is beyond me.
next one is SA.. I'm at the last boss as well... i've got to it before with 5 lives remaining and still managed not to kill her :P

Updated.

There's one more thing: I was thinking about Marisa-B bug and possible advantages it may bring, and decided it's not too bad. After all, the players won't automagically become able to no-miss Lunatic just because of it, or something.

In short, you may now submit Marisa-B scores.

Since the patch is not coming, version notation is also abolished as of now.

I'm only posting this to get some action in this topic...

Normal:

lmagus - 253,830,820 - 6 - Reimu-A - 0.0% - 1.00a (replay)

I was shaking soooooooo much after I beat Aya.. I don't even know how I managed to get to Kanako... Anyway, this was my first time getting so far. I had never gotten past Sanae...

I hope i can clear it soon... But I really suck at Kanako's spellcards even on easy =P

It's a big improvement for me =)

It only makes bosses easier anyway, really. Think I'll give it a shot.

EDIT: Nope, still tough as nails.

Easy:

lmagus - 572,110,280 - ALL - Reimu-A - 2.88% - 1.00a (replay)

The 2.88% lag is from my work pc =P

I died twice in stupid parts of stage 4. Captured every spellcard except for Mountain of Faith...

After finishing all the other Touhous MoF became kinda easy...

I'm amazed at the difference in dificulty from MoF to PCB...

I made so many mistakes and ended up with a score like this.. I'm going to aim for 700k next time.. I want to clear MoF on normal first.

One miss to the very last spell but this is going up anyway. One day of playing this game is enough to send it back to the bottom of the to-do list.

Oh well, no more Easy #1 for me. :\

The Marisa-C WR is up to 1,568 mil, btw, pretty crazy. I didn't think they would be able to milk so much from it, but LYX thinks even 1,575 might be possible.
