Mushihime-sama Futari 1.5 (+Black Label)
Futari 1.5
Maniac Mode - Reco
313,755,024 - MHK - Stage 4 - Normal
Having played it for two weeks. Stages 2 & 3 are the hardest stages in the game; Stage 2 Boss is 'make or break'. Got the second extend a quarter way through Stage 3. Stage 3 reminds me of Espgaluda (Wait - Fire or Wait - Die); Extremely poor second half in Stage 3. As usual, game ended at the very beginning of Stage 4.

Futari 1.5
Maniac - Reco
354,256,707 - MHK - Stage 4 - Normal
Got the second extend at the end of Stage 2 Boss. All went according to plan up until the big flying bug just before Stage 3 Midboss, where I died when I moved to the top of the screen to collect big gems; Died four times in Stage 3 as a result of being demoralised. Game ended in the second big yellow flying enemy, where I died while waiting for lots of bullets on the screen.

Yay first time I post a score for a modern Cave game ! :D ! They're all so much better compared to that Dodonpachi I'm so used to playing.
Played this at Japan Expo 2008 & Epitanime in Paris. A really great game, Black Label is particularly cool at a convention because you can easily play it for score even when you don't know the game so well, I had a lot of fun as soon as I understood the scoring system. Much too often getting stupid deaths in the first 2 stages in this game though, due to point blanking or watching bullet cancelling enemies to know when they're going to die instead of keeping my eyes on the nearby bullets :(

It's a lot of fun, it looks and feels really good, the scoring is nicer than it's ever been, the patterns are hard enough since the beginning and extra hard if you play for score due to rank à la DOJ but also enemy placement. Also, it doesn't seem extremely annoying to play for 2nd loop scores like it is in DDP because the maximum bonus doesn't seem very important at all so I guess you can afford a mistake or two in first loop and still get something good but I could be wrong. It felt fun enough that I could even consider playing it in the future, even though I'm feeling so tired of looping games.sven666 wrote:glad to hear you liked it, it is brilliant, nice score for a first aswell :)
what did you think of DDP5?
Things that I don't like : you have to wait a very long time to play because any beginner can survive really long because of autobomb -_-; and I don't like what the gameplay is like when a hyper is activated, there's very little left to dodge and what I like is to dodge patterns damnit ! For that reason Power Style looked dull because in Power mode your hyper meter refills so fast you usually have it filled before the previous one is even de-activated. So you're like just cancelling bullets through levels @___@ It seems the more you use those hypers, the more they lose their ability to cancel bullets though, so maybe it's just boring to use them in the beginning and then really cool & hard in 2nd loop...
So yeah, great game but I'm afraid when you get good at it you get bored doing the first stages, again.

I've been playing Original and Maniac equally now, as I find them to both be extremely fun in their own way. I'm very close to getting the 1CC on both modes; can hardly wait for that.
v1.5 - Original - Reco
228,343,525 - Necronopticous - Stage 5 (Boss) - Normal
Big jump in my Maniac score, due to a very smooth play of the stage 2 boss, and the fact that I only died once prior to the boss on stage 5, near the very end.
Finally catching up to you again, MHK.

Mixed feelings. 240 million after Stage 2 despite dying once; 360 million after Stage 3. With 4 lives left at the beginning of Stage 4 (after getting past the hardest stage of the whole game - Stage 3), 450 million was on target. Died four times in the first 15 seconds of Stage 4 (The first big yellow flying bug, then the fourth wave of pop corn enemies, then the first grasshopper and finally the first 'fountain'(Is it a fountain?)).

It's interesting that you consider stage 3 to be the most difficult stage, as I find it to be one of the stages which comes most naturally to me. In my mind, stage 4 is definitely the toughest stage in Maniac. I have trouble just surviving in most of that stage, and I can't seem to score for crap. Which parts of stage 3 cause you the most trouble? Those big bugs at the end are, admittedly, pretty obnoxious.
For me, there's a couple of parts during stage three that gets tricky while going for points/gems. The first nest thing on the left side, dodging its spam while not destroying it until the light pillar on the right starts shooting. Counting times I overtap into a bullet, since I am dodging while not shooting, so no A-shot slow precise movement. Same thing for the second nest.
I am starting to squeeze between the rocks those big bugs shoot to milk some gems, but that's hit or miss, especially trying to squeeze between the two rocks that's touching each other.

There is only one problem in Stage 3 - Nests. There are four of them.
To generate "enough" bullets, we need to caress the nest gently (hit it at an angle). Hit it straight on then it will die straight away. Too many bullets then you will die. Stop firing when the shiny thing on the opposite side of the screen starts firing at you and you will accumulate lots of bullets coming at you. Kill the nest with laser just before you're going to die.
If you fail to kill the nest, you will definitely die. It's a matter of "you die or I die".
Surviving one nest is not hard. Surviving the first three nests in one go is nightmarishly hard. If I get killed by the fourth nest, I will get negligibly small amount of points from the last quarter of the pre-boss phase and Stage 3 Boss.

Died once in Stage 3. Stage 4 started with 3 deaths within 15 seconds; Failed to kill Stage 4 Midboss; Bungled Stage 4 Boss second form completely, forgot to release the autofire button before using the laser. Game ended just after the second orange buffalo.

No-missed all the way to the final boss. Can't believe I didn't get the 1CC; literally one or two more taps of the shot button would have killed her, and to top it off, I had a full stock of bombs. Happy with my score improvement, though.
