All charts up (new: individual stages for arcade mode, the arranged mode/elite mode A).

At the end of the last thread Moreno posted an arcade counter stop but forgot to include the EXP. If anyone could check it out and tell me what it is I'd appreciate it. The input file should be here:

His final EXP count was 3,346,133. Pretty good run.

Can you add about 85 more rungs to the ladder? Hopefully, I'd weigh in somewhere in the 90's when it fills up.

Is it essential to level up to 6 before going into stage 2? I'm learning the ropes with this beast (which, incidentally looks incredible in VGA).

Edit: Drunken spelling...

The chart is not limited to any number of scores at the moment, so post away.

I barely use any regular shot on stage 2, so I would say it is not necessary, but it depends on your own strategy. I recommend sticking to the mosquito attack and piercing cannon for most of the stage. There are some parts where it is nice to sweep with the regular shot (smaller enemies, can be taken out with level 1/lower levels). As a rule you'll want to use the larger enemies as targets for reflected bullets. Smaller enemies are pretty useless in that regard.

I'll wait til I break the 12 digit mark before posting anything. Loving the short bursts of intensity this game provides (ideal for shooting dilettantes like me).

Wow, not too much MM activity on the forum lately. I'm the first person to submit a score in over 4 months. :o

Yeah, I don't know why it is so unpopular. I hope to get back into it this year. Updated.

I got pissed off with it after finally breaking the 12 digit score, then realising I had the difficulty on 3 the whole time. No idea how that happened either, since I never lower difficulty settings intentionally. :x

As it says in the topic, the default difficulty is 3 in the US version, so i'm guessing that's what you're using.

Question to anyone: i never touch default game settings, but it looks like i have to for this one - how do i set difficulty 4? I've looked through all the options that come up when you click Tab and there's nothing there to do with dip settings or difficulty. [mame 32 plus]

Nope, I was playing the JPN version. Must have accidentally nudged the setting to 3 while going through the options. My best score on 4 is about half my best with 3, unsurprisingly. Grrr...

In truth I really don't care - the difference seems minimal. Maybe just add US or JP (defaults, obviously) to the end.

I'd submit score but I cannot clear stage 3  and when I played I did not know anything about scoring

I'd play it but I'm lazy. I imagine my score would look like this if I wasn't:

DC arcade:

563,955,015,500 - 1,156,883 - stuminator - 2 - ALL

OK, so it appears this is a little low for an ALL score, but I don't care right now. I'm just happy I beat the game. :D I'll hopefully start working on scoring later, but I need a break from the game for now. I put in 50+ hours last week trying to clear the game.

CPS-2 board (jp)

8,439,228,130 - 127,033 - LGB - 2 - 3

Placeholder, I swear. Also I appear to be mistaken, I think the hitbox is that white-grey circle in the center of the ship, not the tip [of the ship].

I'm warming back up with the cps-2 ver. Almost got the counter stop.

Someone needs to play Elite Mode A, dammit. It's like a whole new game.

My first 11 digit score! Good enough to submit without being horribly embarrassed about it, at least.

Soon I'll participate in a monthly competiton of Mars Matrix, so I'm practicing for a bit:

Arcade (US version):
43,210,025,110 - 526,081 - Ruldra - 2 - 4

Stage 4 is just insane...
