Hey all, new to the forum, and although I searched a bit, wasn't able to find any reference to the settings used when posting score - i.e. Default settings are required, correct? I mean, no one's posting on the Ikaruga list here, whilst using 5 lives/1up every 2 mill right? Just seeing what the deal is; input appreciated as always, & I pre-apologize if I'm too blind & missed where it's stated -
I CAN NOT FUCK UP FOR THIS.
I would assume that these are all default settings. I 1cc'd easy mode with 5 stock/2 mil extend but I don't personally consider that a 'real' 1cc and I didn't bother even posting to this thread for that.

yeah, man. my mate got me to play his 360 last week to up his score on ikaruga. went from 1 million to 19.8 in one day at first, it was just a nightmare with the analogue stick, then a nightmare with the d-pad, but those homing missiles.... i would rather play the PAL gamecube version. still a lot of bang for your buck, and it's never looked better, but weird that treasure themselves couldn't make it as accurate a port as the DC version

It's not just the wind lasers... there's messed up shit all throughout the XBLA version:jpj wrote:yeah, man. my mate got me to play his 360 last week to up his score on ikaruga. went from 1 million to 19.8 in one day at first, it was just a nightmare with the analogue stick, then a nightmare with the d-pad, but those homing missiles.... i would rather play the PAL gamecube version. still a lot of bang for your buck, and it's never looked better, but weird that treasure themselves couldn't make it as accurate a port as the DC version
The boxes in stage 2 often come in at shifted intervals.
You can hit Buppousou before his bumpers retract for the first time.
Shigi's attack patterns are reversed.
The shatter utatsugumi at the end of chapter 3 have a different pattern.
Most of chapter 4 is fucked up in one way or another.
The chougenbou have altered hitboxes, as a result, it seems impossible to trigger the 7th one.
Playing stage 5 in practie mode ends once Tageri's final form is destroyed (you don't proceed on to the Ubusunagami Ookinokai).
And my personal favourite, the game will occasionally just decide to spontaneously end your run after any given level.
There are loads of minor timing differences throughout the entire game that make switching from any of the prior versions to this one rather infuriating.
Oh, and zakk, other possible names should include:
Ikaruga, Where The Fuck Are My Wind Lasers Going Edition
Ikaruga, Why Can't I Chain This Shit Edition
well, (professional) reviewers only have a finite amount of time to review stuff, and usually to deadline. which is what always fucks me off about reviews for pro evo games - you need at *least* 500 matches before you can pass judgement
out of curiosity, what's the top ika score on xbla? is it still 32m?

And yet people on TV Tropes just brush this kind of shit off, the same way they call scoring meaningless:Kiken wrote:It's not just the wind lasers... there's messed up shit all throughout the XBLA version:jpj wrote:yeah, man. my mate got me to play his 360 last week to up his score on ikaruga. went from 1 million to 19.8 in one day at first, it was just a nightmare with the analogue stick, then a nightmare with the d-pad, but those homing missiles.... i would rather play the PAL gamecube version. still a lot of bang for your buck, and it's never looked better, but weird that treasure themselves couldn't make it as accurate a port as the DC version

(P.S. Don't get me wrong, I love TV Tropes, but there are things that they disagree with me on.)http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheyChangedItNowItSucks wrote:The world's best Ikaruga player complained that the Xbox Live Arcade port of the game was "horrible" because it slightly altered a few of the bullet patterns and enemy placements that he had probably spent months meticulously memorising. Of course, he regained his high score and then complained.

Just to annoy you zakk.
Ikaruga Broke-Ass Edition:
Kiken - Normal - 27,112,360 - Stage All - Max Chain 175
BTW, I think I've figured out a fairly solid technique for the preface of chapter 4... and, it would appear that ragial figured out how to chain the bonus shatter utatsugumi at the end of chapter 3 (it's actually a really cool method).

I hate you.
You are now king shit of fuck mountain there all alone in the XBLA table.
I'll have to hop on XBLA and watch some of the replays.
Ok, I watched ragial's chapter 3. That pattern is very...symmetrical now. I kinda wonder if that was the original intent of that section.

Re: Ikaruga
As highlighted to me by Blinge on a night out in London recently, I realise this hasn't been updated for years. A shame, as that discourages people from playing. I'll give zakk a nudge just in case, and then rebuild it myself if he's definitely moved on (which it seems he has!).
Re: Ikaruga
Right - nothing from zakk.
However, blunge and I talked in person about blinge taking this over. You want it blinge?
I'll PM you that stuff I was waffling on about later today, about easy hi-score board maintenance. It's really simpler than I made it sound.

Re: Ikaruga
I have a month long break from school coming up so I guess that's a good excuse to relearn how to play this game with a stick and 2 button control and maybe even add some chains. It could also just be the coffee talking but you should remake the thread anyway
