haha ^^ It's not like keyboards were a handicap or anything. They're just fine for shmups really. I think they're just as good, and if they really aren't, then the difference is only very very small.

Edit : lol you really put it on the highscore table xD lol it looks funny >.<!

It's a pro keyboard, so it doesn't matter
Congrats Prome, you did what you said in just a couple of hours, impressive. Everyone should learn to use the tools we have (savestates) for hard practice like you do, but I should admit that I'm one of those that like to improve run after run, I find it way more relaxing, even if it takes a lot of time. Anyway, I hope this record could cause the reaction I told you in London. It would be a great battle :D
You could say... European SOF?

MY FIRST CLEAR! YAAAY!!!!!!! *dances* I am so happy =D Now to get more consistant, rely on bombs less, and learn to chain stages 4 onwards -_^ *wipes forehead* I sure have my work cut out for me.

Wow... I improved a lot by not playing for a week and a half or so o_O

First run in a while, and while I didn't 1cc it again (largely because I didn't whore bombs), I DID improve my score a fair chunk (especially considering I only got half-way through stage 6). I'm starting to figure out how to chain stages 4 and 5 (6 is really REALLY hard to chain in spots, 5 isn't too bad though for the most part). I think I need a new PS2 controller for my MAME play. The d-pad on this one is old, worn, and doesn't ALWAYS respond. I died at least once because I tried to move and it didn't =( Anyways...

RWM (Arvandor) - 54,537,000 - A-L - 1-6 - ... Uhh... 488? o_O

Crap... I totally forgot to record my max chain, and since this one was accomplished in MAME (which doesn't save scores), I don't have it... I DO know it was my best chain on stage 2 ever, and was 48X. Not that it matters much, I'll beat this score eventually and hopefully will remember to jott down the max chain =)

Damn... The wolfmame INP doesn't work, I only got a 452 octet INP, when I try to play it back it stops right after it starts. I know it won't be added to the scoreboard but I post it anyway:
Image
Everything went as planned until 1-5, where I had 2 deaths that should have been avoided. I also had 2 deaths in 1-6, and one last death against 2-2 boss. So close to the 100 millions mark... I will try to record a working INP next time  .

You know, I tried B-L right after I cleared the game for the first time, just for shits and giggles. For me, the B-L plays almost identical to A-L, really. The moving side pods change very little by way of chaining.

Guess I better start recording in wolfmame (currently recording in mame32++ .117, this run was corrupted for some reason though). I still can't get savestates to work with the newer versions of mame for practice, does anyone have anyone have any suggestions?

Any idea on why it looks wider than when played on newer versions of mame? It looks way different visually to me.

Beat the first loop for the first time tonight (with A-L). Score was somewhere in the region of 25mil. No idea what the man with the iron chin said at the end, but I'm guessing along the lines of 'You are shite'.

Yeah, that's probably why he looks so serious
Nice job RGC ;)
I had a 45M one loop score (it's already on MARP), but I'll rather post when I've a better score :) (actually I thought my score was 30M, but it's 45...will be harder to beat than I thought :? )

@stanski : check if the option "keep aspect ratio" is enabled.
For savestates, the trick I used on TBY (for practicing purposes) might also work with DDP. When the game froze after I loaded a state, I just rebooted the game, waiting for the game to load completely, and only then reload. I can't garantee it'll work...

About 50 hours of Dodonpachi practice later, I decided to finally try for a high score again. After about 10 or 15 tries where I too often fucked up on 1-3 (missing, often at the boss :/), I finally did a really nice run.

PROMETHEUS - 262,760,540 - A-L - 2-6 - 835

This time some nice loop 2 action included ! That was fun to play, I was kind of stressed at some points because I was afraid I would do something really wrong, but considering what I am able to do, I only did one important mistake (at the 2-2 boss).

Replay recorded with wolfmameplus99.

Ehr well, great job, no other words ^__^
Thanks for the replay too, as usual :P

Just out of curiosity, what do you think about improving this score? Is there room for you to push it any further?

EDIT - Suggestion: zip the .inp NOW!
