Since Twiddle no longer decides to update the previous thread, I've decided to take over for him.

Soldier Force is a doujin game created by Studio SiestA as a homage to Hudson Soft's "SOLDIER" Caravan games [inc. Star Force].
The rules are as follows:
-- Normal Difficulty
-- Ship Stock set to 3
-- Secret Weapon Start OFF
-- SMALL hitbox
-- Trap Zone can be set to any, but it's recommended to be OFF, since it can affect scoring.

I wonder why I never posted my score in the old thread. The game's fun enough. I just wish Studio SiestA had bothered to include real Caravan modes with dedicated stages.

I'm unsure about the stage I reached. It only reads "Map-Z" in the Ranking page. So 26, I guess.

Also: In case somebody doesn't have the 1.20 patch yet (which has mysteriously disappeared along with the game's website) I've uploaded the file to my own space. Download here.

Updated:. Also, you can choose to submit Nightmare Mode scores [You start directly at Area 16], so when you submit a score for Nightmare, a table will be made.

Wow, after playing some Battle Garegga this game seems really long !
I Haven't played since it came out and i've done my best score ever !
I wonder if there's some special ending when both loops are done in one sitting (without using the nightmare mode entry in the main menu).

Is that patch still available anywhere?
Also- I can't actually get this game to run cos whenever I launch it it crashes with an error message in Japanese. Will the patch help this?

It sure is. I also updated the link above.

Not sure about why the game won't start for you or if the patch would help with that. Have you tried running it with AppLocale? If that fails, grab a screenshot of the error message and ask if one of our japanese-savvy members could help you in deciphering it.

All running fine now :D

I know there's a choice of seven different 2min and 5min Caravan stages but can we include a Caravan scoreboard too?

What a way to return to this forum!

What a way to celebrate Star Soldier's 25th Birthday (even though Hudson Soft merged with Konami)! Died on Stage 19 when one fast meteor struck, otherwise greater score. Oh, and I would ask for some players out there that if they want to have those top 1 scores, they should require a replay file, even considering the fact that those players made it to the 2nd loop.

Well, I got this top score for now, but I would plan on making another replay this time but with the secret weapon ON, but do not expect me to post a score here and I know the rule here. Instead I'll be uploading this video live soon, both with weapon ON and OFF.

Man, this mode is HELL! Homing missiles come from every direction, and enemies come in very FAST! Also at Final Stage, I was so close to getting killed by the last Big Star Brain, but luckily beaten him quickly!

Bumping this to draw attention and to ask some questions:

Are you still going to open a Nightmare board? Personally I wouldn't, since it's just loop 2... not sure why I allow Extra Mode in Under Defeat, actually.

Per above, do you think a character split is in order? The boards for the caravan stages might get a bit messy, but you could just cap them to 3 spots or something and they'd be fine.
