The Coop - Team Old Schoolers - 743,000 - Stage 1-6 - Quaid (MAME)

I beat the fifth boss, and felt like a stud... despite having no bombs left and being on my last life. Then I got about twenty seconds into stage six and was rapidly schooled on how to be blowed up real good.

Eventually, you'll grow to love the 5th boss. He's by far the easiest in the game to get through and tech bonus at any rank, once you learn the pattern.

The 1-4 bosses are still bomb-tech-bonuses for me (except for the dragon and occasionally the sand crab).

Gaijin Punch - FEKA USA - 340,100 - 1-4 Rob

Final score. I just think this game sucks way too much for me to put any more time into it.

The game doesn't "suck" - it is just devilishly hard. The margin for error is way too small for many people's liking.

It has too many elements that I dislike in all shooting games. Mainly:

-Random stage order (I even scold Cave for doing this in ESPRade)
-Non invincibility during a bomb
-Your screwed when you die, although not as bad as R-Type or Gradius

I can handle one, but not all three. Graphics are good. Design is good. The mechanics just make my asshole clench.

When is Cave week? :)

Good luck Rob/Icarus/MrMonkeyMan. I'm sure you guys will 1-ALL this.
Thanks, I hope so.

Last form. Grr. I'm feeling a little groove, though, so no worries.

The player who did the 2-ALL No Miss replay at super-play-co.uk has 1.1mil after killing the stage5 boss. The best I've managed to come up with is 880k+. So quite far behind at the moment.

Not a chance. Psikyo noob here, having to learn as I go along, with a string of stupid deaths quite early on in all credits. The only saving grace is I can no miss stage5 and most of stage6 up to the boss on particularly good credits. Stage 6 boss is a pain in the arse though, and is normally where my credits end (and averaging 980k at the second form each time).

I'm doing pretty good then. My current high by the end of 5 is 930k+. End of 4 is 740k, so I think I can hit at least 960k by then if it all goes really well. Not too bad without excessive drone milking. I need to practice 6 & 7 for more points... 6 is surprisingly lame for score between 5 and 7.

That is god damned amazing. I'm happy if I'm at around 640-650k at the end of 1-4. I'm usually 830k at the end of 1-5, 900k-1000k at the end of 1-6.

1-5 isn't a problem, though I do usually bomb the midboss if rank is high.

1-6 is a nightmare for me.

1-7 is mixed, I haven't played it too much, but it isn't as bad as 1-6, though it is still brutal.

I still die almost everytime in 1-2 for some reason. Damned near every credit. And being a psikyo newb in this game really doesn't matter. This game is just hard.

I screwed up on a couple of the coin heads, but I made up for some it with a few lucky dragon shots. When I got to the boss on 1-6, I was out for survival at that point, so I never saw the core to go after it.

Big improvement this morning, yay! - it's good when you play in best physical conditions ^_^
Gaijin Punch wrote:Your screwed when you die, although not as bad as R-Type or Gradius
I don't feel this, GP. Since you always have Dragon Shot, I don't feel underpowered when I resurrect. I'll go as far as saying that sometimes I focus getting coins and if I touch an enemy by accident, I don't care much - your basic shoot power is not that useful in this game.

The first three ESPrade stages are 100% deterministic, and controllable by the player. It's nothing like Psykio where you essentially have to learn each variation of the random stages. In ESPrade you can have one set stage order and just learn that.
