Well - if you know to do that. I'll give that a shot if I get a chance to play again.

True. But like I said - I'm not good enough to get 5 mil consistently with the triple strawman. I don't know where I'm loosing points either. I can't milk boredom and bazzcok without risking death either.

A painfully minor improvement...

I'm beginning to get thoroughly disgusted with this game. No matter what I try, my score is always between 2.5 and 3.5 million by the time I get to (and die on) stage 5.

The Coop - The Old Schoolers - 3,560,580 - Stage 5 - ??? x 3

Well, I was pretty determined to at least top 3 mil before this contest was over, but I won't have access to my MAME comp for a few days, and perhaps it's for the best...this game has to be the most heartless bastard Raizing's put out, easily nastier than Garegga. I've had so many lives, medal chains, and good runs stolen from me by this thing that I'm beginning to get frustrated with it...to any of you who have conquered this thing, I don't know how you do it...

Batrider's easier if you don't make a real effort to score high, though. I could actually get to st7 on a low 3m.

Just for fun, a Bornnam (A), 7.29mil Advanced play.

Image

Dropped Medals a total of three times throughout the run.
Triggered Bashi and Gob-Robo, then straight past Grubby and right into Bashinet-R.
Wasn't prepared for the BIG GREEN LASERS though. -_-;;

You sure about that?

On topic:

@Edge: Mind requiring players to list which version B they have, since you're allowing both regional B versions? Unless Icarus doesn't mind both version Bs in the other high score thread.

Korean automatic extends

Ok sure:-
Last score was;
DEL - 8,375,120 - ST7 - Strawman (A) - PCB Korean

Just for the record, both versions have their good points. You can't 'drop' extends on the Korean one to get the life max-out icon to drop. Plus you can't increase your shot rate on it either. So I don't think the Korean one is easier in any way.

Randorama - 5,997,120 - ST5 - Carpet (A+B+C) - Japanese B version

I swear, i wanted to destroy everything. Got the colosseum stage and died *because of a stray bullet* after Bashinet exploded. I had a seizure afterwards :?
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.

Panic. ^_-

Seriously, I dunno, I was quite happy getting past Grubby with Bornnam and ended up fumbling the run. I think the safest place to be (from Special Course practice) when it goes into BEAM CANNON SPAMMING MODE is just to line up with the very center of Bashinet-R. They take time to fire, so if you are observant you can see them coming and set up, and the only real safe place to be is lined up with that aforementioned center of Bashi-R.

If you're lucky though, you might not get the BEAM CANNON SPAMMING MODE and instead get a much nicer green bomb and bullet spray pattern.

I did manage to capture that Bornnam replay up until I got wiped off the screen by the big green lasers. I'll encode the Bashi-R battle for you, DEL, so you can get a good look at the patterns.

I prefer JPN Ver. B in the other score thread, but if players are using one of the other revisions thats fine, as long as they state it when they post a score.

As for this one, I doubt it really matters. The only real difference between KOR Ver. B and JPN Ver. B is the lack of Extend drops in the Korean revision, something that the JPN revision players would be able to take advantage of with regards to more precise rank control. Other than that, scoring is identical as far as I can tell.

Good Question^! I took it home on monday night, it was getting costly with foul-up runs and it turns out that I can play almost as well on my 19" Hantarex monitor at home.
I got Bob to put Strikers 1945 back in for The Old Mills :wink: .

I'll agree with DEL that the lack of a firerate change can put speedup selections or weaker ships at a disadvantage. There's no large scoring changes I can speak of for either, except the 100k full extend bonus that only hurts JPN B players if they use it.

Note: piercing shots are worth about 8 times as normal shots when it comes to rank. Image

This game is one of the hardest I have tried. Hard to see the enemy bullets with all that crap going on and the big explosions.

I'm doing quite well, but feels like I'm running out of time. But hey, I don't hate this game anymore.

Little update. Man, getting extended life feels like an orgasm. :P
