UGH

I've been working on this game for a loooooooong time to try to beat my old score, and I was able to 1-life it past the 4th boss and i STILL couldn't 1CC it. I really thought I was going to do it this time :( He only had a quarter of his health left. :(

For saturn Dodonpachi should I play arcade, saturn or score attack mode for this high score table?

Just unzip. Than File->Playback input->ddonpchj.inp.

And in here you can watch the game of the world champion:
http://www.aiva.emuita.it/special/DDP.zip

753.819.200 PTS..... I mean: A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

DIRECT SOUND - SAMPLE RATE 44100.

aprire il mame-->FILE-->PLAYBACK INPUT-->ddonpach1.inp-->open

HE is our hero!!! :D :D

(Anyway thak you ;) )

If you have any problem to see the Inps just let me know: I'll try to help you ;)

Do you happen to know the name of the world champion? I thought for awhile, CLOVER-TAC was the hi-score holder, at around 700 million.

I'll try to explain how to get it work step by step.

Unzip the file; Make 3 new folders: roms, nvram, inp.
Put the file named ddonpach in the roms folder.
Than unzip ddonpach1 in the inp folder, and unzip the ddp_nvram file in the nvram folder. Double click on Mame icon; If a window opens click NO;
Right button on the game->properties->sound Directsound 44100. Display->fullscreen display.
Than file->Playback input->ddonpach1.inp.

What's the problem?

My replay should be very easy to play ;)

Let me see if there's something wrong with the files I uploaded...

I'm sure: they both should work!

Let's see again how mame Inp works.
Download this:
http://www.consolewar.net/staff/br1/DDP ... 30,000.rar

Use WinRAR (I dont' know if winzip works with this file) and unzip it.

Open wolfmame092 folder.

Double click on tha MAME32p92 icon.

On the upper left corner: File->Playback input-> Just push enter.

Where do you have the problem? Probably to unzip the file?
Let me know... ;)

wow. that was a really cool replay, BR1!

I'm such a noob that I didn't even know that you can get over a 1X max bomb bonus :( so i always bombed the bosses when she'd say "just a couple more shots' and think that i'd be getting more points that way.

I have some work to do.

AFAIK that replay is not recognized as it used savestates and slowdown. The dodging looks inhuman, because, well it is. Sorry if that spoils things for you.

Can you really use savestates in MAME while recording an input? I didn't know that... Anyway even I suspected he was using slowdown (some things are just IMPOSSIBLE), but I thought nobody ever proved it! :lol:

Just 2 words: Maximum and chain... So, when you face a Boss don't mind about the Hits: just try to survive without using bombs ;)

I've heard some crazy stuff about that replay, like hacking the inp or mame (to allow pausing during recording). Like I said, it's just as far as I've heard, not "it is proven". My gut tells me slowdown was used/abused, still it's a great guide :)

sorry, but savestate is not possible use during mame input file.

If you use save state during replay, when you see "playback input" replay desync 100%.

Only slowdown is possibile.

Ignorance. Who's to say someone didn't make a custom build of mame that can include rerecordings? Given that it's open source.

Score from awhile ago:
Zhon - 39,625,990 - A-L - 1-ALL - 208 Hits

Oh, and call me just a bit skeptical that someone out of nowhere did both loops of DDP without slowdown...

Some places only accept specific builds, such as WolfMame. And wolfmame is not open source.

The guy's score is on the gamest record site:

http://www.aiva.emuita.it/d.php

Not watched it yet, but surely the bullet dodging is going to look superhuman?

I don't think you pull out a 700+ and not look unbelievable :wink:

Yes.

There is so obviously a rank system in this game, no matter what anyone says. I've never no miss no bombed to the end of the loop, but holy crap. And then there's the second loop :shock: Though DOJ's still harder, that was one amazing replay. As for its legitimacy, I'm not sure. I'd like to believe it's real, but it doesn't really even seem possible.

Anyway, I think I'll start playing for score again. I almost cleared the first loop and would probably have broken my old record, but I had some stupid deaths on the last level that finished me off.
