i made it past him, and then there's this partwhere you have to go through a "tunnel" of those grey blocks and dodge and crap but it just kept doing it over and over until my time ran out! does the game go any farther than that or is that it??

I think you've got the wrong perspective here - you're declaring your anger at the game and then claim that we need to lighten up?
In any case, there's still a long way to go if you want to play for score. The challenge is to rack up as many points as you can within those 3 minutes, and so far I don't feel as if the optimal strategy has been found yet, lots to explore.
