Re: Radiant Silvergun Port leaked ahead of TGS

Oooooh that's even bigger than the Osman news in the other thread :D

Still happy to own it on Saturn and Xbox (playable on Series X imperfections and all).

I'll prob get both new versions. RS deserves to be on as many systems as possible :D

On a completely unrelated side note. Is there ANY chance in hell Konami and Treasure re releases Gradius V for modern systems???!!? I'd want that even more than this TBH.. (only reason I keep my PS2 around anymore)...

Definitely in, if only so I can seal my Saturn copy away from potential scratches, disc rot etc.

Sure, there's a chance. They've done 2 Castlevania collections and a Contra one, Gradius would be a logical choice in the future. The only question is what would be the baseline technology threshold for M2 to be willing to tackle PS2 material?

Amazing, as we also live in an era now where a new physical copy would be VERY likely.

+1 on Gradius V - At least get it upon PS+!
Formerly known as 8 1/2. I return on my second credit!

Hmmm, how would you 'seal away' a CD from disc rot, I wonder?

I really hope the platinum isn't as hard as Ikaruga's.

I'm hearing it might be a sequel to Radiant Silvergun... But I thought Ikaruga was the sequel? Shouldn't this be another remastered port like the Xbox 360?

Well, technically I think Ubusana is a sequel to RSG…
I wouldn’t mind seeing that at TGS……

TBH, Ubusana makes more sense to me with that tweet from a few weeks ago.
Maybe they’re just using RSG as a way to get peoples attention, especially if they choose to actively market Ubusana as a sequel to RSG and Ikaruga…

Hopium.

Tweet? I'm actually hoping Ubusuna is that "Radiant Silvergun 3", even though Hiroshi Iuchi said to not expect a "Radiant Silvergun 3" sometime soon...

I've actually started to give some thought to this... it may well be prudent to seal cd edges (dvds, excepting some very early ones, appear to actually be better sealed ) and polish/protect some of the surfaces ... what you don't want to do of course is actually carbonite them, or abrade the surfaces by polishing ... or, the thing I hadn't worked out yet (and I'm probably overthinking this), actually trap moisture against the disc ... (deterioration or wear to surface is the most common means of ingress for moisture which generally leads to rot, sometimes on the surface where there might be a tiny scratch, often from the edge where bonding gave way or was never well sealed).

Back on topic; very nice to see this game get another release. Over hyped or not I always thought it was a shame that rsg was such a limited game on it's original platform, and that treasure themselves for some reason seemed to be slightly ambivalent about this older work... ironically they were probably not wrong about rsg as a game with such niche appeal, but I do think it's great to get it to be more accessible and known like ikaruga became...

I've owned many games Saturn, PS1 and 2, Dreamcast etc. for the past 20 years and haven't experienced this yet. All my games play fine. Must be rare?

Hey thanks for the info. But we do have the Treasure thread. This would have fit nicely there.

I think I might have read somewhere, that the black coating of PS1 CDs prevents against rot a bit better. Possibly an urban legend. That said, none of my PS1 games refuses to load.

To stay on topic: Looking very much forward to Radiant :)

I am more happy for online leaderboards. Why does this port have them when the livewire cave ports couldn't? Don't tell me cave games are programmed that shittily?! Bros!?

Very good point !! Input lag was a shame on X360 !!
If it's a single X360 port on switch/PS4, it will be a massive deception...
