Moon Dancer (TERARIN GAMES) out now on JPN EShop

Grabbed it last night - and it's some glorious Ray Force/Layer Section type action. Similar to Raging Blasters, it plays perfectly on the Switch as far as I can tell.

Enjoy!

Nice.
Any word on a U.S. release?

Oh, I see they gave the pilot a massive redesign also, just like in the Switch port of Raging Blasters. She looks much beautiful here, honestly.

I cleared one of these games... Raging Blasters I think? I can't remember. I liked it well enough and pretty fun while it lasts, but it was way too easy to have any staying power. Much easier than the PC Engine games it takes inspiration from, which were already on the easier side. You'll either blind clear it or do it on your second or third attempt.

Hope this is a bit more challenging.

Raging Blasters is only good on the highest difficulty setting. Easy and Normal are basically just practice modes.

I especially like that the new art no longer appears to be blatantly traced and stolen from a well known franchise.

God, if you're gonna trace, at least trace well. Bleh.

I noticed. The pilot in the original looked WAY too similar to Ellinor Waizen in GG Aleste.

It definitely wasn't traced the Marvel way :)

It's shocking what this developer keeps doing.

His games are quite fun, but he releases them on PC with what frequently feels like "work-in-progress" assets, only to then release them on the Switch with lovely pixel art and greatly improved visuals, without ever updating the PC versions, or even providing a paid option (DLC or re-release) for PC users to get these improved versions.

He keeps doing this. And in the case of Moon Dancer, the difference is massive.
As someone who bought Moon Dancer on PC (as well as all his previous games), it's extremely disappointing.

Even the final boss was given an overhaul in the Switch port.

Nothing official - but all his other games have made it (Missile Dancer, Gemini Arms, Raging Blasters), so it's very likely.

Having been enjoying my time with this one.
So far managed to 1cc( 1 life clear) Normal and Hard mode. Moving now on to expert.
The caravan mode is also pretty fun.

I'm still pondering if it's worth $10 for what's supposedly a pretty short and easy game. I do like Hudson Soft shmups though...

I think it is.
It's not the most challenging game but it is good fun.
I managed to 1cc normal after only a few tries but I think I'll go for a 1LC then move onto hard and expert.
