Shmup Fonts

Post by FatalError »

I found a few websites with shmup-based fonts. I remember (a long time ago) people asking for these fonts, but I decided to post these links to any an all interested parties. All these fonts are freeware as well. Mods, if this doesn't fall under the standard Shmups Chat moniker, feel free to move it into a more appropriate area:

GEBSITE: http://www.gebsite.org/
FORMAT: MAC/WIN OTF format (you may need Adobe Type Manager Light)
GAME FONTS: Senko no Ronde, Border Down, Nebulas Ray, ESPra.de., Guwange, Gradius.

ACT SELECT: http://www.clavis.ne.jp/~sonic/segasonic/index.htm
FORMAT: WIN TRUETYPE
GAME FONTS: All SEGA related, including Zaxxon, Space Harrier, Galaxy Force.

CLAW'S GAME ZONE: http://www.empire-of-the-claw.com/Fonts ... e_zone.htm
FORMAT: WIN TRUETYPE
GAME FONTS: 1943, Silkworm, Generic Videogame Font (called Joystix, you'll know it when you see it).

Just have your browser use the font as default, have it override the website's own choice and voila! ;)

Excuse me for reviving this thread, but could someone please host those Ikaruga fonts somewhere else? I can't seem to be able to register in those forums.

(Also, first post! Kind of wasted it, though...)

Excuse you? You actually cared to search the forum and resurrect a related topic instead of just spamming with a new one, that's commendable, well done! :)

And welcome to Shmups forums.

Edit: sorry, I don't have the Ikaruga fonts.

The Ikaruga fonts by Babywolf have been reupload and are still linked in the first post of that SuperPlay thread.

EDIT: I misread your post. I'm an administrator at SuperPlay's forums, and much like every forum in existance at the moment we're having issues with spammers and we have to manually approve each account. Sometimes an actual human being's account might slip through the cracks, and I totally apologize on behalf of SP's forum staff on that. If you reregister I'll make sure the staff knows not to reject your account. Again, sorry about that!

I'm really sorry for "undertaking" that old topic, but I'm looking for Ikaruga font (I'm working on custom naomi artworks). Does anyone has it here? That would be great. Thanks a lot :)

Since all links to ikaruga font are dead (and because i'm a very very obsessive necromancer, reviving this thread), i've managed to build a quite similar font based on the pvr font sheet i've ripped from game.

Anyway, many thanks to BitFontMaker, a pretty good tool for building fonts.

Cheers!

For any other type geeks / arcade fans such as myself, an extremely well-researched and beautifully presented book was published on the subject a while back.
I can definitely recommend it if you're in the relatively small subsection of people where those interests overlap:

Seems a little "hellsinker font" search in google left me with this result:

https://fontstruct.com/fontstructions/s ... hellsinker

Personally, i've never played this game, so i don't know if above link is actually accurate.

Looks accurate. I remember there being one many years back so fits that picture.
Never saw those fonts on GEBSITE before, really neat stuff.

Maybe with a "Wayback Machine" search?...just saying...

https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.gebsite.org/*

Filtering search for zipped fonts shows 13 results.

Uh, did anybody get the wayback files to actually unzip?

I d/l'ed them, kind of said 'uh oh' when I saw they were all exactly 60kb, and yeah, I couldn't get them to unzip.

humm...maybe you were right-clicking and "saving as" those links instead of normally following them and selecting a snapshot.
