Does Sky Shark on the NES have kind of weird hit detection?
I feel like if an enemy bullet comes anywhere near my ship I get hit. The game seems cool otherwise but its really frustrating right now.

Yes, it has some of the worst hit detection I have ever witnessed in a console shmup. Which is a damn shame because it is responsive and the music kicks ass.

I've also noticed that, Sometimes when it looks like I've dodged the bullet, the plane explodes for no reason, making the game almost unplayable.

yep; also the bullets are a sad victim of sprite flickering, so sometimes you explode from bullets you didn't even see. i can't even get out of stage 1 of the NES version.
