For the life of me I cannot get DaiOuJou to run in MAME.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get it to run in MAME or maybe have a link to some info somewhere?
I want to run it on my PC so I can practice levels and then play the PCB board I have for real runs.
Cheers
Lee

It may depend on which type of mame you are using, for starters. And you may also not have the parent rom, which I think on some mame versions is called Dodonpachi III. No parent rom = no dice. Also, if you only have Black Label I don't think you'll be able to run it without White Label, as BL is a 'child' of the WL parent.

Last I heard from copyright trolls you're only allowed to have a ROM you yourself created as a backup from the physical thing you own, and you're only allowed to use it after the original has been destroyed.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

This is why people shouldn't use oldass mame builds.
Just get the latest mame version, get the latest rom dumps from the latest romset, that's it. they are on that archive organization thingy.

I had it running in shmupMAME - had the BL version going too.
Been a while - will need to check that out.
EDIT: yep - it runs in shmupMAME.

Yeah, DOJ has worked for so long it must be not having the parent ROM, or it must be a case of having a bad ROM.

If you're using a recent version of mame, you need to have ddp3.zip to play doj white label, which you need to play black label.

The rom files I have are
ddpdoj
ddpdojblk
ddp3
ddp3blk
Not sure if you need all four of these though.

Open up a command prompt to your MAME folder, and do "mame ddpdoj" (or mame64 ddpdoj depending on the mame.exe's actual filename) and then paste the text results here. That'll help us track what's missing.

Or use Final Burn Neo. It's not picky with the romsets and plays just as good as mame (and it needs much less cpu power ).
