Classic Shmups that need the M2 ShotTriggers treatment

Post by Abandoned Witch »

Abandoned Witch here again, and it's about M2 ShotTriggers. With the recent ShotTriggers releases including ESP.Ra.De PSY and Ketsui Deaththiny, and with the Toaplan shmups are rereleased, I was wondering if Deathsmiles will get a ShotTriggers version (Since Windia is DLC character in Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours), and how it would work in modern consoles. In your opinion, what other classic arcade Shmups that should get the ShotTriggers treatment?
Apparently the Deathsmiles I and II characters were the children of the former Sedalia members.......
Really. I get my mind into this mindless heart of my own Chronicle, as would let Sarah Hillman said.

E.D.F. Earth Defense Force
Air Buster/Aero Blasters
Strike Gunner S.T.G.
Daioh
Shienryu
Sengeki Striker

I think those deserve to the in the M2 list, especially Shienryu since it is what made Warashi famous.

First out of the gate for me would be DoDonPachi. Seems obvious but wouldn't it be nice to have a legal and accurate playable version of this and also have all those M2 gadgets? Some sort of remix/arrange mode too - assuming the Campaign/Blue label version is unobtainable.

Apart from that what about seeing the Parodius series getting the treatment too? And then Treasure might get off their arse and create a brand new one!

Batrider and Progear are my picks, in that order. Bakraid and Great Mahou would be rad too. Everything else I can think of offhand has decent at minimum existing home versions. (if the Toaplan project wasn't underway, I'd mention Hishouzame, Out Zone, Same3 and Tatsujin Ou for sure)

Based on their excellent work with Detana Twinbee, Trigon and Sunset Riders, I'm pinning my hopes on Hamster for at least Parodius Da (which could really use an accurate home version - neither Saturn nor PS1 are accurate to the PCB's infamously savage difficulty).

With the amount of time each of these takes to release, M2's plate will likely be full for many years to come.

But in fantasy world: Does Cyvern still have bugged background layers in mame? That would be at the very top of my list, having a fully working home version that doesn't depend on a flaky Supernova motherboard. I suppose while we're in dream world I'd ask for Cyvern Plus as well but lol at that ever happening.

Next up, Viper Phase 1, which still blows my mind how it keeps getting missed. New and Old versions of course.

After that whatever, I'm done being greedy.

Good pick. A game maddeningly skirted around indeed, with Raiden DX's PS1 version featuring its OST, and INH's later soundtrack. With frickin Zero Team of all things slated for an ACA release (alongside the obligatory Raiden, which I'm honestly looking forward to... one of those ubiquitous games that's never actually had an arcade-perfect home version), my hopes for VP1 on console are marginally over zero. Image

I wonder if the incoming console generation will free up some hardware oomph and lead to a proper 90s/00s bonanza on the part of specialists like M2 and Hamster.

Batrider or Battle Bakraid.

It would be nice to see some of the CAVE games get re released as well. It would be nice to play Mushihimesama and Mushimesama Futari on modern consoles.

From 2 years ago. That list is from a Japanese community I've not heard of. I doubt M2 will care much about the wishes of English-speaking STGers, but maybe we should submit our own list somehow?

I will second Air Gallet and the NMK games.

They need to figure out how to make the games work on PC before releasing anything else

I'd love to see some Compile stuff. More Taito, Irem, Raizing, Konami i.e. Parodius, Salamander 2

Wouldn't mind Cave ports given a rest for a while. There are a lot of them.

1. Batrider
2. Pro Gear
3. Battle Bakraid
4. Dodonpachi
5. Dimahoo

And Limited Run Games needs to release Physicals for Dangun Feveron and Sorcer Striker.
A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visional Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain

I completely agree with this one. The Dreamcast version was ok for the time, but it has ugly scaling and it would be great to have a version for a more recent console.

Nothing, it's been ported to PS4 & XBoxOne. No physical version though.

I’d like to see Area 88/U.N Squadron and it’s successor Carrier Air Wing get the M2 love but I know that will likely never happen so I would happily settle for a Hamster Arcade Archives treatment as well.

I’ll also echo the suggestions for 19XX, Dodonpachi, and Batrider.

I'd really like to see it happen to DoDonPachi and Ibara. Maybe Batrider if a third is possible. DDP is really fun, and I think a better entry for newcomers too, as the first few stages are not nearly as oppressive as they are in some of the later CAVE games.
