I think this could be an interesting theme for the shmup community since 3D printing opens a whole window of options to improve our shmup figures collection.
From having a large R-9 model or even make a transformable figure of Alaric and Genseric from RayStorm (since 3D printed Transformers is possible).
¿What do you think about it?

Re: 3D Printing and Shmups
I think that would be cool and I'd like to see people printing out ship models As I understand it, most consumer 3d printers print out a somewhat crude object and it takes a lot of refinement, sanding and painting, to get a great professional look to the object. Many shmup ships have delicate features, I wonder if shmup stuff could come out looking good without a huge amount of personal effort.
Re: 3D Printing and Shmups
That's no longer the case now. You can now buy a $200 printer that has the same or better performance as $1000 machines.
Just to give you an idea, here is a replica Blade Runner gun that I printed on my $200 Ender3 pro. I would love to see printable shmup models, but so far haven't found any.
This is just 3d printed and snapped together. No sanding or painting. I also added lights like the real gun has.

Cool, seems like 3d printing has really improved in recent years. The gun looks great.

If you know how to use Blender (or almost any other 3D software) you can probably make your own models, but the tricky part would be making sure that they're 3D printing friendly.
