Need help identifying a model from a 3DO M2 shmup demo

Anyone recognize the ship? Story is its from a japanese developer that was actively making a shmup for arcades to then be ported to the home M2.

Powerstone was in development for M2 and moved to NAOMI / DC, so this game may have in fact came out somewhere, but I've never seen this model before.

So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Trying to track it down :)

Completely offhand, among games that were actually released, Raizing's Brave Blade comes to mind. Polygonal vert with ships that transform into mechs, runs on Sony's ZN1 hardware.

I'll watch the playthroughs closely...thematically it fits and timeline wise it does as well

This reminds me a lot of Cypher, a mech from Sega's Virtual On series that can also transform into a ship that looks spikey like this. It's even got the high-heel style feet...

Damn that is close. I doubt it’s Sega since they weren’t actively developing for M2 but maybe a designer that worked on it went to another company. That’s def the closest thing I’ve seen to it for sure. Thanks for the lead!

Wasn't the m2 marketed to sega?

Capcoms tech romancer also has a robot or two that can turn into planes but they don't look as close to the model.

Made me think about Last Legion UX on the N64, except for the transformation animation.

Solved : Thexder. A late 90's attempted remake on M2. I checked with the person who provided the files and they remembered it. Someone suggested it and it matched. It was going to a shmup similar to Thexder Neo

Interesting! Figures Silpheed got an attempted revival not terribly long after.

Yep, that'd be the Slipheed remake on the ol' PS2 hardware. Working Designs snagged the exclusive rights to have it published and distributed stateside back in the day.
