https://www.inin.games/games/cotton-reboot/
https://www.play-asia.com/cotton-reboot ... /13/70du73
https://store.strictlylimitedgames.com/ ... ton-reboot

It appears as if BEEP has announced their plans to partner with Rocket Engine (publisher of Trouble Witches) port/update the X68000 version of Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams for modern consoles and operating systems. ... And apparently release a floppy disk version of the x68000! Also will include some updates, like redesigning the screen for 16:9, extra characters (from Trouble Witches).

EDIT: New Trailer for Cotton revealed at TGS 2020

EDIT: And it also appears that Success and Beep are going to tackle making an all-new Cotton game releasing in 2021!

FURTHER EDIT! The name of the game has been released! SUPERLATIVE NIGHT DREAMS COTTON: ROCK N' ROLL! Featuring the cast of Umihara Kawase and Doki Doki Poyacchio as playable characters in what looks to be a 3D horizontal shmup.

EDIT Once MORE:

A Sequel has been announced! Cotton Rock n' Roll 2!

Relevant links mention the likelihood of physical releases for consoles (Will there be tea involved?), and a release on Steam. No word of non-Steam release (fat chance sadly). An 'arrange' mode will be included.

Man, everyone is bringing out the old shmups these days. IMO a more than pleasant surprise. Kino has gone on and on about how much the x68000 version of Cotton is excellent and it seems like the guys in the interview consider it better than the arcade version (all I can say is that the PCE port is more fun than the arcade version).

Disgusting.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Cotton's a very good game, but while I've played the arcade and PS1 versions, I haven't played the X68k. I guess I should.

X68k Cotton is very enhanced over arcade. Has a lot of new sprites, lots of added parallax, 2 new exclusive bosses, and old bosses all have new attack patterns. For the insane, play it on YOU DO difficulty.

It really does seem like the folks bringing back the shooters of yore are trying to outdo each other in terms of how obscure their source material is ("We'll add Cybattler DLC!" "Oh yeah? We'll port the X68K version of ours!"); personally I prefer both the look and gameplay of Cotton 2 and Boomerang over the older games in the series, but still a nice surprise.

Props to the OP for that poll, though.

I knew there were somenew bosses, but you gave a fuller picture. All I remember from dabbling in the emulator is "hey, these bosses are different!" I guess it's a good thing to have this over say, Cotton 100% or the arcade game. You might as well pick the most content-rich version of the game, eh?

Ha, I was kind of getting at that. What's next? The Allumer Box Set? Brave Blade port? Actually, that'd be good. Do that.
While I enjoy the off-kilter gameplay of Cotton 2, the original has a nice straight-forward appeal to me despite Cotton's giant sprite.

Would have been nice if they included Cotton 2 and Boomerang as well in the package, still, nice little surprise that I'll buy as I've never played the X68k version.

I agree, but it seems like a lot of announcements with very long wait times (As far as console releases). So many earlier announcements saying early 2019 summer release...the waiting game is sort of getting old. In lieu of switch that is, they seem to keep pumping them out.

I kinda want a rerelease of Rainbow Cotton, in spite of some considering it being the worst of the series.

The big question is will the PC version keep the DANCING KEYBOARD? Finally giving RGB Keyboards an actual reason to exist?

Nice surprise. I only ever played the PCE and PS1 Cotton games, and I enjoyed them enough to be looking forward to this.

X68000 Version arrived today. Very nice package. Beep seems to get fancier (and more expensive lol) with every new release.
Content wise, the new Beep difficulty setting is essentially Easy mode for the n00bs. The Trouble Witches girl is playable, though
selecting her disables the story scenes. Finally they did add infinite loops for those wanting to push scores. Unlike the arcade/PCE
versions, the original X68000 version would end after just one loop. Nice to have that fixed up finally.

That is one of the hottest shmup photos I've ever seen. Super ultra jealous of that mug. Has a release date been announced for any other platforms?

I agree it's ridiculous to release a floppy-game in 2019, but as long as SuperDeadite is happy with it! Makes me wonder that if this version is already out, how much more time is needed for the modern release?

No news about the re-release, though a headline just came out to announce guest composers for the game's arrange mode, including Shinji Hosoe, Hisayoshi Ogura, Wasi303 and Hiroyuki Kawada.

X68000 version was preorder only, but demand was high enough that Beep actually did a second preorder run after the first
had closed due to high demand. I went with the 5.25'' version, but they also offered a 3.5'' for the Compact loving freaks as well.

The official website for the Steam/Switch/PS4 version went live in September, but little info is posted yet. Beep actually did
their own in house auditions for new voice actresses for the story scenes. The PCE version already had this, but I guess they couldn't
reuse it, or they are extending the game in some way.

Im sad I missed the x68k preorder!!
I'm really excited about this, and I want to get the extra goodies like the art book and the teacup I think it comes with?
Does anyone have info on how to order a copy or know of what extras are coming with it?
What does anyone know when the physical release for the switch ps4 will be?

This video shows off a lot of the goodies :)

X68000 version came with a teacup and acrylic Cotton standee/key chain. No artbook, but the manual is very nicely done.
As for getting one, Beep did 2 rounds of preorder, and both sold out. Limit was 2 per address. So, if you want one, all you can
do now is watch yahoo auctions and hope someone flips one. Won't be cheap though.

Out of nowhere, Success announces a new Cotton game for 2021!

That art is just apparently reused from Umihara Kawase Bazooka... Maybe the studio that makes that game is working on it? To quote Night Striker: Details are as of yet unknown.

They must be feeling good after dipping their toes with this Cotton remake.

OMG I know people hate on Rainbow Cotton but I absolutely loved it. Sound track for that game was awesome too!

That said 2021 is way too far off for me to get excited

Has it been said if the console versions of this will be released in the West? I would guess so because of the intention of bringing it to Steam, but if anything's been said specifically on it I missed it or forgot.
