Stunfest 2019 in France, Rennes (May 17th - 19th)

Post by Plasmo »

The biggest live event for shmups is coming closer! This year's edition in particular has a number of surprises to offer.

The action is centered around three live superplay demonstrations by truly expert players. As usual, each game is presented twice on the big stage.

1) Blue Revolver (Parallel Mode) played by Kiwi
2) Touhou 13 - Ten Desires (Lunatic) played by Maribel Hearn
3) Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 (Ultra Mode) played by Gus

Moreover, we will have various announcements and specials coming up. Wait for it!

Apart from the main stage, there will be a freeplay area with many cabs + all the games you could ever wish for. One of the cabs will be set up for live stream, so you can follow what's going on even if you can't make it to France. For the first time, we will also have a dedicated Touhou section with games & merch.

I will post more info here soon!

So who's coming?

I guess the event is going to be streamed on Twitch... do you have a link and a schedule? I'd love to see the Futari Ultra run.

I'm definitely looking forward to Stunfest! Setting my alarm clock to France time ha.

Also, for those who are interested, I will be hosting a "viewing party" in my discord where we will be voice chatting during the demonstrations and stuff. :-)

The line-up may be a bit different from some of the previous years in regards with the japanese superplayers and all, but I dig it! I am especially curious to see the Blue Revolver runs live. Futari Ultra also sounds crazy. @_@
Touhou 13 I am not too knowledgeable about it, but is high-level scoring mostly bomb/trance/suicide spam or is it going to be more balanced?
The cab and superplay streaming are also a nice touch for those who can't attend.

Unless something unexpected occurs, I should be there, so I look forward to seeing you guys again!

I am trying to bust my ass at work so I can justify the time to attend this year. It was fantastic last year, and I hope the event continues to be great.

If I am able to go, I would like to offer a showing of a Fantasy Zone II DX superplay.

I'll be looking forward to the Futari Ultra run. Gus's Futari counter stop appearance on STG Weekly is my favourite moment on that channel, especially the bit where he gets bollocked by his mum. Genuinely howled with laughter.

Totally enjoy your superplays at stunfest! Nice website too, so I‘ll be checking the live stream. So sad that I cant be there in person but hopefully some day.

I think the team superplaylive scene will be streamed as well.

If you like speedruns you can find their Schedule here : https://www.stunfest.com/superplay-2019/

I will be on their stage the Friday evening to play Nex Machina.

Hello people, sorry for not being good at communication this year, i'm extremely busy with personal project at the same time trying to organize a lot of things for the event...

Stunfest budget has been reduiced a lot this year but I managed to bring a lot of material to still have a cool stand and cool demos. it might be my last one so I didn't wanted to end on a bad note ^^

You already know what is happening on stage for live runs so here is what we will have on stand :

- 6 candy cabs with only arcade game, one will be streamed all the time on my personnal channel at the following link :

https://www.twitch.tv/os_yom

The english restream might happend on this channel, its still not 100% sure yet but i'm working hard on it. We will do a charity stream for helping Eaglet that had trouble at Stunfest last year with a PCB that he shared us.

- Famicom with Gradiu/GradiusII/Salamander, depending of the demand/day it might change.
- Xbox 360 with Cave games
- Blue Revolver with Danbo (the dev) here
- 2 or 3 Touhou setups depending of what Chaos bring.
- Pawarumi setup shared by the devs that will be there on Indie dev area
and the last but not least :
- Darius Burst Another Chronicle on two 46 inches monitors. Will be huge ! :>

Hope you will like it.

oh and one last thing, please notice me here if you want to go with us at the "traditional" restaurant on Friday evening :)

Can't wait to see you there ! :D

Good Stuff Y'om.

Sign me up for that traditional restaurant on Friday night. I'll pop round there on Thursday evening from 9.30pm onwards for the old Lincorne Blacks.
Thanks for working on the arcade scene again!
It'll be good to play on a full sized DariusBurst once more.

I'll arrive at Rennes on Thursday as well, always ready to drink a Licorne Blacks :P

Unfortunately, I will not be available for the restaurant before 9 pm on Friday because my Nex Machina run start at 8 pm.

Espgaluda 2 : I love this game but the XBOX version is an abomination … even movement speed isn't arcade perfect ! I want to play it on cab.

A Psikyo can be a good choice (Gunbird 2 or zero gunner 2) : a beginner can reach stage 2 easily and credits are short enough to have a quick turnover on the cab … and it's always fun to throw some rabbit

I would love Night Raid as well but i don't think its graphics are appealing for the public.

I also think the priority should be given to PCB with free play / no continue mode to prevent credit feed / Don't have a staff member spending is day adding credit in the cab.

Also I didn't found a Nex Machina high score topic on this forum so I put this here … A video of what I hope to be able to reproduce on stage this Friday :

Here's the first footage I've seen of Gus's first run. Second run coming on Sunday, I believe.

I hope Gus enjoys the trip and he's got some people looking after him over there.
