Exactly this, he knew what he was doing and sought to cause a furor to feed his ego and sense of power which he doesn't have irl.scooby wrote:If it is a private project, I don't really see the point of trap15 to post that news in a tweet.
In the past, he has got us used to share his findings.
I have in mind his work on the NMK sound MCU for example. It is now integrated to Mame and everyone can enjoy.
You clearly made up a justifying purpose after the event, you made the initial tweet with intent and now are back peddling with some drivel about "b-but i'll release the documentation!". Nobody has shown a gimme gimme attitude have they? which you wished they did I however would prefer you just kept it private as it's of no interest to ANYONE unless you had a release in mind which you don't therefore your motivation was clear and you've been rumbled which is why you're emotional.trap15 wrote:Good job playing therapist buddy, but there was a definite reason I posted it, and I can tell you that it's certainly not to get emulation kiddies to yell at me.

Yes indeed how dare people have opinions or criticisms we don't like! we must immediately delete! look at yourselves for god sake.

Hmm.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Would love to hear more on your technical achievements @trap15 !
Re: News of the year @Trap15 twitter
I'm interested in hearing more about it too! (if we can officially leave out the dumbness now)
What about the messy timings ? did you successfully manage something for that ? seems the issue's pending in MAME for an unpredictable amount of time until they care/figure.

Re: News of the year @Trap15 twitter
Timing stuff is mostly a crapshoot for now. I'm intending to run detailed tests on a board soon enough to try to get some actual numbers on performance. Until then I don't want to even bother with that when there's still fun things left to do, like improving performance and optimizing the recompiler up. It's "similar" to correct, but I'm pretty sure MAME's still closer right now.
A bit of why I was excited for it all to work is just due to how dead simple the recompiler is; my impression had always been that writing a recompiler would be quite a lot of effort and hard to implement successfully, but this kinda proved otherwise. Even with something so simple, I can run well above 100% (nearly) consistent, except for some rather pathological cases like Pink Sweets with its weird loading mid-stage stuff. I think I'm still missing some peripheral features though, and maybe implementing that will improve those... dunno! But I'd certainly like to write about how you can write a recompiler with very little effort beyond just a simple interpreter, my own mind was blown when I realized it

Also congrats on your accomplishment. Even though I don't understand anything it is about what you're doing work wise - I know it feels good to put time into a project and see it come to fruition.trap15 wrote:Snip of things
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

I'll trade you a (1x) blue raspberry jolly rancher, a strawberry scratch-n-sniff sticker I found under a pile of forgotten GOTY edition feelies, and half a tray of Costco French fries for your source code

Hey trap, just a quick question..2 related ones actually.
Seeing as your code will be exclusively for this one driver, will the resource (CPU) requirements be significantly lower than those of mame's? And how much of a hassle would be, porting the emulator to android OS?
I'm asking because a very similar project (unreleased sadly) was accomplished by Demul dev MetalliC back in 2013. He made an Cave (sh3) exclusive emulator for android which ran full speed on relatively low end by today's standars mobile hardware.

Re: News of the year @Trap15 twitter
shmupg = shmups general, the shmups discussion thread on 4chan's /vg/ board, wherein anons discuss 2hu/deathsmiles waifus, European politics, farm drama, and sometimes shmups.
Re: News of the year @Trap15 twitter
^I don’t know anything about 4chan but sounds like it’s just Cee spamming it up with multiple alt accounts? With regards to this thread, I’m sure that trap would announce something when he feels like he’s ready to do so and the project is in a releasable state.

A hive of bigoted trolls and bored virgins who picked a random general about a subject they don't really care about save for some surface-level knowledge, but proceed to only post about Japanese child porn, fascist ideology, and the attention whoring of "super"players.
