If general thought is that it should’t be in the list, I’ll remove it

I think Gunbarich counts in the same way Twinkle Star Sprites does. It is a shmup to me and plays as so. It is just not as conventional.
A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visional Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain

Thanks for the list. Was looking for something like this.

Btw, maybe someone has already tried this and can help me out.

So when the switch is set to 480p the picture is still 16:9 on the tv.
Can I assume that this is some kind of Anamorphic widescreen ?

Basically my question is when I'd run a game that has 4:3 aspect ratio e.g aero fighters 3....
do I still get a pillarboxed image (black border left and right with the rendered area in the middle) when I connect the switch to a 4:3 monitor, because it assumes that I have a 16:9 screen connected?

It would be interesting if i could use my old vga monitor with a hdmi to vga adapter
when running non-widescreen shmups, since so many games have tate support on this console :)

The two have nothing in common. TSS has all the shmup genre hallmarks with a puzzle-game element heaped on top. Gunbarich is a pinball physics game with some shooting elements tossed in because Psikyo. It's far closer to something like Bad Omen/Devilish.

Also, Alpha Mission II is vertizontal.

When I got into Arcade games I used the World Of Arcades to go by the shmups I wanted to purchase.

Gunbarich is listed on their Psikyo site.

Sorry for being abit offtopic.
From a interview with Hamster CEO Satoshi Hamada

"It is possible to port the other Arcade Archives titles currently available in other consoles, and Hamada would also like to release games which licenses are held by arcade game maker companies of the past, like Nihon Bussan, UPL, and NMK. Right now Hamster holds the rights to roughly 500 titles. Although some of these games are still difficult to release today, Hamada wants to release as many as possible."

This may be a stretch... but on the Fairune Collection (a 4-in-1), the fourth game in the collection is an unlockable vertical shmup variant based on the series. It releases 5/17/18 at €9.99/$9.99. I pre-ordered, cause I liked Kamiko (not a shmup) & 10% off early-bird bonus; so we'll see how shmupy it really is.

It has been ages since I played Strikers 1945 for last time, If I remember well it lacks that option, but when I played it was pre-patch version

Sounds like a great deal on PAINT THINNER IN THE MOTHERFUCKIN GRAVY

Argus also got a Famicom port from TOSE! It is a middling Xevious/Star Force crossbreed notable for letting you turn into a robot, and then kill your enemies by literally doing the robot! Ha ha! Wiggle l/r to do the robot.

Take my robot, bitches. Eat it! FUCK

It even improves on STG convention by making the Toaplan Landing Sequence™ interactive - and killing you if you get it wrong! Hours of fun!

RQ: How 2 Land In FC Argus

Wait until the white dot starts to creep forward, then let 'er down nice and slow over the line! You only tap [down], nothing else you godless grasping flipperbabies!

The distraction is making my dick soft and floppy like cheese!

But it sure beats the landing gear going straight up me arsehole!

Someone gave me a brand new copy for free the other day! They go for like ten bucks, because not even Japanese schoolchildren circa 1986 wanted them. :[

Also regarding m2 ShotTriggers on Switch & steam. Thanks to smbhax for posting the link to the interview in the UBUSANA thread.
http://shmupemall.com/interviews/interv ... 17853.html

google translate gave this result:
" For the Nintendo Switch this would be really great because it would be a very good platform for our Shot Triggers portals. But hardware specs make porting a bit more difficult. In any case it is something we would like to do if possible, but it would take a lot of work. After for Steam there are compatibility issues between Windows 7 and Windows 10. The technologies we currently use do not allow us to easily make a port that works on both operating systems. To be more exact, we especially have a problem of input lag that we managed to solve with a hack on Windows 7 and suddenly it is really well played. But on Windows 10 this hack does not work at all and it's really not nice to play with an input lag of at least three frames. "

Used to own the Famicom port of Argus, think I sold it or gave it away (probably the latter). Not sure if the Arcade version is better but the FC port was quite forgettable. Very curious why they picked Argus out of all games lol... As for Jaleco games from that era, I found Exerion to be much more enjoyable (although it’s quite dated by todays standards probably)

Yeah, considering the currently transpiring news it's safe to take it off the list.

I apologize if this has already been addressed or if there's a more appropriate thread for this question but can these Switch shmups be played in TATE mode while docked? In other words, can I play Dragon Blaze in TATE on a monitor?

The Psikyo ports have a screen orientation setting for sure, as well as Ikaruga. I haven't tried any others.
