Me and Leon Cox of Cane and Rinse / Sound of Play made a careful selection of various music tracks of scrolling 2D shooters throughout the decades and proceeded to fondly yap about the games and the music in between each piece. Hope you enjoy!

I quite enjoyed the podcast. Was a very rich diversity of tunes. For me, that typical melodic type of music is one of the main reasons for the shmup adrenaline rush and a huge draw for me

And yeah I do have some of the concept tracks online (most of them still need some final tweaks). But they're for a game I'm working on, so I'd rather not have anyone use them in a game (at least until I release my game).

They're supposed to be associated with specific levels that I've storyboarded out on paper. I'm trying to go for a bit MMX meets shmup music vibe with some AMIGA and cheesy guitars thrown in here and there.
