I was hoping for such news, and it makes sense given the platform is targeting the arcades. I'm sure it would be more difficult to obtain licenses and such though.
Somewhat offtopic at this point, but there's been an explosion of indie/doujin fighting games recently that are getting to the point where money could be thrown at them. This is what we're seeing on exA right now, but these could lead to bigger games.

Every developer has to start somewhere, anyway. Arc System Works was a simple contractor making strange small games for years and years before Guilty Gear was a thing.

Mikado is streaming the Vritra Hexa demo. It is one player only due to being set in 1p cabinet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJpUKUUoZRc

Looks like Shou, founder and CEO fo Exa Arcadia will be featured along other special guests for the upcoming documentary of M2's complete history. They are also development partners with Exa Arcadia.

https://twitter.com/MyLifeInGaming/stat ... 6808156161

Also, Arcade heroes will have their impressions on Blazing Chrome once the website is back in order, and it is confirmed to have exclusive content for Exa version, but no details yet due to NDA.

https://arcadeheroes.com/forum-2/topic/blazing-chrome/

Finally, Exa Arcadia makes the latest tweet reply that Striker 2020 is in development, barely hinting an arcade release.
https://twitter.com/exaarcadia/status/1 ... 6006962176

For every announcement of small news, more announcements of Aka & Blue play test at Mikado May 18-19, because it is the flagship launch title.

Slow trickles about Exa Arcadia is better than nothing at all.

What are your hopes for Exa Arcadia this summer?

My hope is that Exa Arcadia makes the major announcement of release date worldwide, or at least for Japan, North America, and Europe as starters of global launch period. That could also mean location tests for other places beyond Japan. My last wish is each game ready for launch will feature trailers showcasing exclusive content and differences from home/mobile release.

I hate to post again, but I have high hopes that Exa Arcadia will succeed this summer.

Aka & Blue Type R has been getting lots of location tests and one day events, with the latest being in Hokkaido June 1st.

Looks like Aka & Blue Type R will be shaped to be the most polished launch title period.

Also, Fallen Angels is confirmed to have a director's cut version for Exa Arcadia as it is one of Shou's favorite ...ahem... "secret" announcements.

I have asked about CAX for this year since the lineup seems more promising, but Shou replied that there is no plan right now due to not many requests. Plenty of us like to have a shot at the upcoming games, but we will wait until things are announced.

I hate to do this, but I will launch into speculation mode:

As summer is approaching, it seems there is not much news to announce, so Exa Arcadia launch would most likely be ready by either Q3 or Q4 2019; with longer delays means more time to assemble a launch event worldwide with talks and plans laid out with distributors all over the world (Japan is already confirmed). Sometimes not announcing anything major for delays may be the best strategy to focus on ensuring a strong launch lineup with diverse genres to choose alongside STGs, not to mention impressive press with a big lineup. The manufacturing location issue might have been resolved enough so that the first batch of Exa Arcadia machines could be made for launch period with enough games to start (and to avoid 25% tariff form China to USA); maybe in a few thousand or so due to cheap game cartridges and affordable motherboard holding the games.

And for those who care about small news about Exa Arcadia games, Infinos EXA has a new major exclusive - Ship Selection (differences in shots and others are a mystery for now)

Image

Anyways, Let's stay hopeful and we will receive good news when the time comes.

Delays and vaporware until we see something other than a test location.
A Hardcore gamers reaction to the Lack of Kinect games. Apparently i could of played Dodonpachi with it if i beat a entirely in Japanese Visional Novel piece of shit game called Instant Brain

There is good news for Exa Arcadia not being vaporware with preorders for US and Europe being available sometime in late middle of July or early August by estimation

From Arcade Otaku:
Shou wrote:
sven666 wrote: So.. uuh.. is the exa available yet? What games actually ended up on it? How much does it cost?

One game i think would be a good fit is artezneits yaktouga 4, if they remixed the weird porn out and did some slight balancing you have a top tier cave/raizing worthy game here, im sure a small indie dev like this is more aproachable about their ip..
Preorders for the US and Europe will begin this month in limited quantities.

We have enough shooters to last for years.
Also some other news:

This would be good news for all: Shikondo Red Purgatory has confirmed a Q3 / Fall 2019 release worldwide for arcade platform Exa Arcadia along with upcoming location tests. The link to the tweet is below:

https://twitter.com/exaarcadia/status/1 ... 3615298560

As for concerns about Exa Arcadia platform, the latest preview article from arcade heroes, featuring Mr Gimmic EXAct Mix, the author has confirmed that the systems are in production.

https://arcadeheroes.com/2019/06/21/tak ... %98%86mix/

As stated by author of the article, who is actually an arcade operator:
I have confirmed that systems are in production right now, so interested parties just have to keep hanging tight, but barring any catastrophe, the systems and the games for it will be gracing arcades before the end of this year.

I got a question:

Will Exa Arcadia show up to California Extreme (CAX) this year like they did last year? If not, that is okay as we will enjoy the arcade goodness that will come.

Also, I like to request the mods to move Exa Arcadia to Off topic despite that the majority of launch titles are shmups.

Blazing Chrome PC is out, and it's a very cool game but...

...the score strats are just speedrunning it. The end-of-level time remaining bonus is so huge that nothing else matters. That's incredibly dumb and I hope the exa AC version changes that.

e: I'm the dumb one. Having a speed-runnable arcade game on a platform full of shmups is a good thing. It will help to entice more people who like speedrunning to play. It does have several auto-scrolling sections, but maybe they can tweak them with some mechanic to make you go faster.

For all of you shmup fans out there, their flagship launch title Aka & Blue Type R are onto its next (or maybe last) set of location tests happening in Japan today. That could mean worldwide release is imminent after Japan.

That news came totally out of the blue on my twitter feed.

For all of you shmup fans excited for Exa Arcadia, Tanoshimasu has made a tweet that shows Aka & Blue Type R in cartridge form, as it is nearly ready for launch in Japan.

https://twitter.com/arcadeheroes/status ... 2739319812

I learned from the discord chat with some arcade operators that Aka & Blue will be the main launch title for Japan as it is hyped a lot. In the same discord, the fight to get started internationally seems to be slightly harder, but Exa Arcadia will proceed slow and steady until things are ready.

For a bonus, Nippon Marathon Turbo is getting a location test with 4 player setup at Mikado from 8/18/ to 8/23 2019.

https://twitter.com/arcadeheroes/status ... 1881466880

As for the 4 player set up with two standard 2p cabinets, I wonder if two Exa Arcadia motherboards are running or is one of them a slave cabinet without the motherboard through HDMI splitter and daisy chained input controls?

Anyways, keep the Exa Arcadia thread vibes positive and fun.

I'm interested in any new arcade tech, but are these just x86 PCs? Is there any custom PCBs under there at all?

If the answer is no, it will damper my enthusiasm a little, but still, anything to keep the arcades alive is good IMO.

x86 architecture with games on custom cartridges.

A bit like a Taito Type X, but with slightly more exciting tech.

I would assume it's just a USB stick in a bulkier casing. It would be much cheaper to produce, i imagine.

Shou confirmed that Aka & Blue Type R is their main launch title in Japan because it has been hyped a lot. Should be available in this fall / autumn.

As for international distribution, Shou will give a short notice when preorders go live. I also talked with an arcade operator who directly communicated with the founder that the international distribution of the machines would be ready by a few months. It is said that Japan will get EXA Arcadia in September with western release maybe ready by December 2019 / winter 2020. There may be a dedicated brand cabinet for international markets like how Neo Geo arcade cabinets were distributed in the USA.

Anyone else excited for Cave games on EXA-Arcadia?

On September 15, 2019, Cave will appear on the Dengeki x Famitsu TGS 2019 fourth day broadcast between 14:00-14:45 JST for what is being called a “major announcement” on Twitter.

Just hope it is an original game and not a port of something previously released. Unless SDOJ of course LOL. That game needed a bigger print.

Well they stopped making "proper" shmups years ago because it wasn't viable anymore. I don't really see why it would suddenly be viable now in 2019. This will either be a port, a new mobile game, or a port of a mobile game. With a bit of luck it'll be some sort of directors cut version or alternate rom of one of their best. I'd be very surprised if it was anything else but we'll see.

There will be so much crying if they release "exa label" versions of games, but I could see that as an easy, cost effective way for them to re-enter the market.

I never understood why they stopped with Akai Katana on Type X. They could of ported of all of the Xbox 360 library.

The announcement is already made. City Connection is releasing a multi-platform Deathsmiles collection. They didn't announce the platforms, but you can probably infer the likely candidates from their previous work
