Will the games have a copy protection scheme or are they relying on licensing compliance?

I remember shou stating somewhere that they worked very hard on some type of copy protection.
I very much doubt that the hardware sold to private collectors would come tied with a contract of any kind, other than the standard fare.

I decided to check out the Exa Arcadia website out of boredom until several changes were noticeable.

Finally, Akyrios Exa, a vertical bullet hell shmup, is part of the preorders page. I wonder what new exclusive content would be present for the Exa version?

It is but with some exclusive content added for the EXA-Arcadia version that will not be found anywhere else. With the asking price of $1,200 for a kit, it's not something to sneeze at. It's great to play it on the go with the Switch port of Danmaku Unlimited 3 indeed. DU3 and it's previous two titles were done by a single person making them all the more impressive to begin with.

Finally! Exa Arcadia Pre-orders are officially LIVE!!!!

https://arcadeheroes.com/2019/11/02/exa ... pre-order/

6 games available plus motherboard:

2 horizontal shooting games

3 vertical shooting games (1 horizontal orientation, 2 vertical orientation)

It's a good time to be a SHMUP fan. Also feel free to spread the news to your nearby arcade operator, or buy it yourself if you have the money and space.

This is because the Exa-Arcadia company is headquartered in Singapore
WTF ? Didn't see that coming.
"exA-Arcadia Private, LTD." indeed registered in Singapore earlier this year and their address is about 1km from my place...

So did anyone from here buy one? I myself did indeed buy one, but have somewhere to operate it. A bit different than just having it in my basement.

Found out new information from Arcade Otaku with Shou(Time) answering about arcade cabinet art:

Shou wrote:

The art assets in this picture were only at the location test. The kit's art is the header and strip only. Vewlix only art is not being produced.
If more than 100 customers want Vexlix art and pay in advance then we will produce it.

Therefore, each game comes with a header marquee and instruction sheet at minimum, and nothing else. Additional art will only be produced if enough operators and collectors want to have additional art.

Also a few new games announced plus more detail from Arcade Heroes:
https://arcadeheroes.com/2019/11/13/exa ... announced/

And a press conference focusing on Aka & Blue Type R to bring in hype before Japan/s release of Exa Arcadia and their flagship title (Japanese only):

Not least, very exited about Gimmick! exAct☆MIX | some early footage from JAEPO 2019 stream

Would never have imagined this to come to the EXA.

It's also cool that we have the creator here on board, mikejmoffitt :)

Hey buddy..

What cab you putting it in? I guess I'll be checking out caldwert's locally because I just have a couple of 15kHz cabs. Suppose I could rig something up maybe? Have been out of the loop a bit.

I would like to order one with Aka though.

Today, Aka & Blue Type R(evolution) has been released in Japan, and loads of tweets are spreading like wildfire.

I wish for the arcade platform to succeed with new games, and of curse, exclusive shooting games.

Couple of differences to the mobile edition.. the "launch sequence" intro graphic is new, also the boss is different.
Patterns ~may~ be a bit different? Would need to check again.

Hype straight from the exA Arcadia CEO Twitter account (emphasis mine):

Today is just our first step in this journey. There’s much much more to come.

We look forward to sharing more soon. More games, major developers joining and more revenue for arcade owners everywhere.

See you in the arcade!

Probably a mobile port like DDP Maximum, but I don't think that would be bad either.

I’m putting it in a Vewlix FC I bought specifically for EXA. It should be perfect for it. I thought about trying to do the 15Hz conversion but thought this was the best way.

So what is the word on Aka & Blue? Only youtube content I see is the Score Attack stream from a couple days ago. I wasn't blown away by it (it is far to visually similar to SDOJ which I've never liked the look of), but it was just grinding stage 1. Are there any full runs posted yet? Can anyone run down the differences between Type R and the mobile original?

For what should be a rather exciting release there's been almost complete silence here which is a bit weird to me.

Arcade ops in Japan need to ask Tanoshimasu permission for streaming first. I imagine it will be at least a couple of weeks before any of them bother to do so.

Only select arcades will be allowed to stream (so far only Mikado), and only score attack mode (stage 1 only). For most people, there is a ban on any video footage. See:

Eh, I can wait a bit. It's not like I'm going to play it anytime soon, so no reason to get hyped yet.

The fact that there's no chance of a port happening throws salt in the wound. Thanks a lot EXA.
