I guess the cost of a new kit could be prohibitive although for the right game it would be very tempting, even if it's a limited H/W run made without credit or online support around the time of the steam release.
The arcade release is for all people and regions. Japanese distribution will be handled separate from us.
For overseas, we have different partners but are going to do online sales.
Each release will have a limited edition run with extra goodies just for the collectors.
I'd love to see old vets take another crack at horizontal games.
There aren't enough modern ones being made these days, especially not by devs are prolific as G Rev.

I still want someone respectable, G.Rev or otherwise, to make a Tatsujin sequel. Even a Toa port package would suffice for now.
The current IP holder for Toaplan is a notoriously difficult person to work with which is why you don't see these already. There are several Tatsujinou ports that have been sitting completed but unable to be sold due to this situation.

Is he someone who actually worked for Toaplan as a designer? I could understand he was a bit oveprotective of his IPs.

When was it made clear that they were the proper copyright holder? Last I remember reading (which was admittedly a while back) who actually had them was a very, very gray area and nobody wanted to take the risk.

I'm going to go with either a port or a sequel to dormant ip. I don't see crowdfunding working if the goal is anything like 1 million. And i imagine a sequel to some dormant ip would only work for games that are relatively compact (like indeed magical drop or windjammers). I can't see a hd redraw of tophunter (to name something random) be viable business-wise; it'll cost a fortune to redraw.
I picked sequal to an existing IP, because I can barely afford steam releases, let alone pcbs. But I actually just want ports of games I missed, enhanced ports or added content would be great, but not needed.
I am a casual, if that informs your decision.
I would love if there was more access to the older G-Rev games I missed being a nintendo fan. I would love a port or border down or gradius v.
But if other ports were on the table I would love a port of Armed Police Batrider or G-Darius.
Thanks for reading my comments.
Edit: I forgot the horizontal shooter called Biohazard Battle (クライング 亜生命戦争). I'm pretty sure it had an arcade and genesis release. I would very much love a sequal to the game.

They're probably able to do it for cheap and there are enough people who don't care about the issues or buy it anyway to "show support" for retro ports.

Well DotEmu's Double Dragon Trilogy compilation on Steam and smartphones was pretty mediocre, with many questionable design choices (e.g. intrusive HUD for each game, sprite rips from the Genesis version on the main menu, no option to play the Japanese version of Double Dragon 3 without the item shops), but I heard good things about their recent Monster World II remake.
The Monster World II remake was only published by Dotemu and was handled by the person responsible for the Meka emulator.
I'd go for whatever G.Rev puts up next, however, yeah, Border Down has yet to be ported to anything but DC. So yeah, an HD version on current gen would be nice, despite its difficulty scale. Same with Under Defeat (HD), though it hasn't hit PC/Steam, besides consoles with its HD version.
I've been thinking of an answer this whole time and find it hard to come up with one. Essentially, I want whatever makes G.Rev the most money so they can continue making great games. While my heart of hearts would love a professionally-done horizontal I think they have to sniff out the money. Senko no Rondo 3?
Dunno about PS4 userbase, but i'm shocked at steamspy data claiming it sold only about 1200 copies there, which is less than even Acceleration of Suguri 2 preorders Strania is on low numbers too according to that.
Well i bought both and even bought more to gift friends, but are we really niche there. Hope G.Rev will have more succes there in the future.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
Not officially, but planned, as Google Translated says it to be, but if it is, well then, I doubt it be any different than on X360/X1 and PC/Steam, and even on the Nesica Arcade version.
Man, it seems Strania's being port overdosed (no pun intended, lol).

EXA does not accept ports as is. In this case, expect changes if confirmed.
