Ps4; Stardust galaxy warriors: stellar climax
Anyone check this out ? Nice horizontal shmup..
Re: Ps4; Stardust galaxy warriors: stellar climax
Haven't played it to be honest, but judging from some gameplay videos, it seems to have nice production values, but aside from that, it looks like a dull euroshmup with weak and ridiculously narrow player shots, bland enemy formations and patterns, overly long stages, bullet sponge mid-bosses and bosses, health bars and a shop/upgrade system*.
That said, the game boasts 4-player co-op play. Maybe it is more enjoyable that way and was designed with 4 players in mind?
*On a side note, does a non-shitty western-developped shmup with a shop system exist? I am sure there must be, but I can't find an example of it and have thus always been very wary whenever I notice that dreaded "feature" in a shmup.

It's been on Steam for some time now - it's been awhile since I fired it up, though I remember it being not half bad, definitely better than a lot of other Western-developed shooters.

I for one hate those dull indie shmups with repetitive enemies etc, at first glance or a video this seems the case but its sort of like gradius with a wave of same ol same ol cheap looking enemies for a bit, it gets better and the bosses are fun. The first couple of stages have been just sort of asteroid field backgrounds but i have seen some yt vids showing some very nice backgrounds as well.
On a side note it pisses me off that ps4, and ps3 for that matter never list half the shmups in their "shootemup" or shooter genre sections, i had to yt ps4 shmups to even find out this was on the system. I wonder what else i am missing from ps4 , it took me awhile to even find gai seed, shoruken? , sonic wings special among others on the ps3. Im all for retro but they always show these arcade classics that are pre 1985 and are just not my thing anymore, i want cohen brothers not porn production. Alpha mission 2 on ps4 is great though..

I bought it last night after reading this thread and realizing/hoping there was a half-decent PS4 shmup that I didn't own.
It's fun. It's probably not objectively "good", but it's a healthy distraction from some shit I have going on right now. Easy to pick and straightforward as you'd think. The real draw seems to be the 4 player local co-op, which I won't unfortunately won't be able to try out anytime soon. Cheers for the recommendation though.

This one will get a physical PS4-Release by Strictly Limited Games link.
The game looks ok I guess, even here the opinions aren't too harsh but then again ~30 bucks mhmm I'll see.
