Thanks, can you see the hitbox actually showing after changing the setting?

No, there are no visible hitboxes in-game, but here's another thing that might help you out. (That's only the default arcade hitboxes, though, obviously.)

It's just under 3000 yen right now. A reasonably good buy?

Any cheaper and it might as well be free.
I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.

I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

Does this have analogue support like the Saturn version? I never had a good stick for the Saturn, but that analogue controller worked pretty well, which, I know, is blasphemous :)

Well, it does not. A giant deadzone and digital-like control on the stick is all we get.

Should I bother trying to see if my PS3 Virtua Stick will work?

I took the plunge on this release, this weekend.
I was curious about all the extra stuff.

I have to say, the presentation and attention to detail is top notch.
The arrange mode is so fun! The different stage order, "rank lock?", and the medal magnet make the game more manageable for a novice player like me.

I'll be cheking out M2's future releases, that's for sure.

I have been playing this release a lot.
This is the most fun i had on any shmup. The mechanics are really starting to click.

I'm currently on 9.7 mil on stage 6 Arrange (hold the laughter please ^_^).
Im getting the retrigger of the max rank mode more and more often on stages 3 and 5.

Anybody around still playing Arrange?

Due to a large back catalogue of games I have to get through, I've been holding off waiting for a Western release. It's taking quite a long time though.

It was reported as such around (or even before) its Japanese release, but there's been no news since.

I'd just buy it. Don't quote me but a Western release is unlikely to happen. STGs circumvent usual backlog rules as they reward playing little and often, something that comes from the situational context of their arcade lineage. And once you set up autofire preferences and button mapping, the only menu interaction you need is switching modes and soundtracks, which is done in English.

I assume it went back up in price. I checked everywhere earlier this week and it's always around 5,700yen. So I just bought the regular version.

Hey, guys. Over the past few years I went full normie and only recently just learned about this port. I just picked up playing a bit of Daifukkatsu recently, on a regular TV and with the 360 controller. Does anyone play Garegga 2016 with the standard PS4 controller and no tate setup? How does it play like this?

It plays excellent IMO. The M2 widgets make it absolutely worth it to play it in horizontal mode over tate.

I used the search but didn't turn up anything. :(
Echoing this post. Does anyone know if a list of translated trophies is available? I'm missing these 4 for the plat:

SECRET POWER: プレイヤー1がショットパワーでスペシャルパワーアップを成立させる
Choose special power using shot button? Although I think I have done that already?

PROCURE WEAPONS: 大ウエポンアイテムを10秒以内に4つ取得する
Get 4 big weapons items within 10 seconds? The ones on the right in succession, I imagine: Image

EXPENSIVE DEBRIS: CLOUDのスレイヤーが出す破片をウエポンで破壊する
"Destroy fragments from CLOUD's slayer with weapons" So destroy all individual pieces of the sub boss before finishing?

CRUSH NOSE: VALLEYボス、ノーズラフィンの先頭に付いているプロペラを破壊する
VALLEY Boss, destroy the propeller attached to the head of nose ruffin. So destroy the nose of stage 1 boss?

Let me know if I'm in the right track, any help appreciated. :)

SECRET POWER is probably getting special shot power up.

EXPENSIVE DEBRIS: Slayer releases shrapnel when it dies, you can bomb the shrapnel for points. Right as it dies, bomb near the ship's nose.

CRUSH NOSE: yep, destroy the nose propellor of the stage 1 boss.

PROCURE WEAPONS is getting 4 large weapon (bomb) items in quick succession. The only place you can do that is the 4 large tanks just before the stage 4 boss. Each will drop one if you destroy their treads before destroying the body.

The main strategy thread for Garegga has more info on what the special shot power-up is and how to activate it.

On the first set of trains, bomb the tracks, pick up all the medals and stay as close to the top of the screen as possible. If you do it correctly, as you pick up a medal, the next one should be double the value, and since you are picking up a line of them you can potentially go straight up to 10.000 right there.

Just practice it a bit and you should find a route you're confortable with.

If you get a medal value of at least 7000 until the end of the stage and you dont die, max rank mode will be activated as soon as stage 2 starts.

Or better yet, don't read a post about it; check out a high score replay of arrange mode with the ship of your choice and you will see how it's done.

It has many pages of interviews with Manabu Namiki and other development team members. It also has a few pages' worth of old design documents and concept art, but the book is 90% Japanese text so it's a little hard to recommend if you can't read any of it.
