Seems like M2 is never looking for a PC release.
They've worked on several PC ports recently (a fighting game, a lot of visual novels) so it's not out of the question. It's more an issue of budget: no money = no additional ports. We don't even know if they're planning on releasing these games internationally.

I actually found this thread just before going to bed and struggled to get to sleep owing to all the questions it threw up in my head. I'd decided against buying a PS4 some months ago and now find myself sorely tempted to buy one again. And then what do I do with my Saturn copy of Battle Garegga? Use it to fund a PS4 or keep it? And I only just bought another Saturn console to play Garegga after my previous one blew up on me a few years back. And to think I was planning on winding down the time and money invested in gaming. Bah, decisions, decisions ...

Yodobashi has the Premium Edition listed for 8550 yen, release December 15.

No idea if those figures are placeholders or not, but it's something.

That's quite pricey for me, but if it does indeed have a physical disc, I'll probably get it.

Hopefully I can just get it from playasia, but otherwise I suppose rancor could help me out with this...

This also popped up, which has some more info that I'll defer to someone else to more comprehensively translate. It does indicate that even in the Premium Edition, the game is just a download code, no disc.

Bummer. Still a nice box set though.

Well shit.

Still, the box set extras look really fucking nice, I might still get it regardless if there are more details about what exactly is in the set.

Is that an actual 10,000 point medal I see? :o

IIRC it was actually a reasonable price back in those days. I picked it up around that time, and it only cost me £30 from ebay. Batsugun was also a a similiar price. How things change. :(

I'll probably still get it, the 10k medal kind of sealed the deal.

Since you'd be buying an entire console for it, keep the Saturn port until the game is actually released. Even though M2's track record is nothing short of astonishing, its always good to read gameplay impressions first. Just in case. Assuming all is good, absolutely sell the Saturn port.

So the disc in the pic is only the soundtrack disc?
Download code games are lame...

But that paper that looks like the original arcade marquee is awesome.

Damn, a download code with a 9000 yen physical release? That sucks.

I wouldn't play this anyway since there's other ports and arcade-perfect emulation, and paying nearly $100 or more for a 20 year old game is a bit extreme. PS4 has almost nothing interesting to me that I can't play elsewhere, so it's also not worth that extra $200-300 investment just to play it. Not really a huge Garegga fan as it is, though I appreciate it for what it is.

It's not just a 20 year old game, it is Garegga.

90k Yen sounds like a spot-on price for a premium edition.

It's not 20 years old. Garegga has always existed. Yagawa simply chose to reveal Garegga to us mortals 20 years ago.

No physical disc really hurts though. :(

A test of faith, my brother, a test of faith!

Did Yagawa truly trust Abraham before he showed his willingness to sacrifice his only son's life to lower rank? I think not.

This is much the same. We must show our faith before Yagawa truly reveals the light to us.

Given that the game probably only costs 2000-3000 yen for the game itself digitally, the rest seems kinda steep, paying 6000-7000 for a medal, book, clear file and soundtrack.

Japan has surprisingly gotten a lot more reasonable with their special edition prices lately too, with many SE's being 7000-8000 yen for more LE content than this has, plus physical copies of 5000-6000 yen games included.

OK, according to a promo video on Rakuten's site, here's exactly what's in the Premium Edition:

- Game download code
- Soundtrack CD
- Booklet
- Medal pin badge
- 5 clear files
- 5 postcards
- Reproduction arcade instruction card
- Reproduction arcade manual
- Reproduction arcade flyer

Nothing super interesting otherwise in the clip, though. The previously-mentioned price and release date are confirmed accurate too.

I'm personally definitely getting the Premium set just because I'm a huge Garegga fan and there's very little merchandise out there for it in general.

You could buy at least 7 of the LEs for the price of the PCB. And the PCB won't come with all those goodies and cool UI.

Yep, that was going to be my plan A. But seeing as how we won't be getting a physical release for the game I'll probably keep my Saturn copy now!

Just wondering, if I were to buy the premium edition do any of you think there'd be any issues with redeeming the game download code on a none JP region PS4?

Namiki's touching up the music with higher-quality PCM but I don't think it's a full arrange.

The standard download version is 3700 yen, by the way.

BEEP in Akihabara is negotiating their own LE Premium variant with even more extra junk as well.

I can get behind this. Hopefully there's an option for the arrange soundtrack in there too. The arranged soundtrack is bangin'.

Any possibility there might be an Asian physical of the game?
Or maybe they might change their minds about making it digital only?
