Blue Wish Desire
Re: Blue Wish Desire
Revisiting it, this game really is looking good. Combines the best parts of his previous games with much more aggressive pacing. First credit on the new demo and it immediately makes me feel like a badass, dancing around at the top of the screen pointblanking everything and backing up to let the screen flood with bullets to cancel with the hyper. Bit like Espgaluda if it was at all fun or good. As long as he finds a way to sanitize the scoring mechanics (the boss milking potential right now seems quite silly) this will be his best game, I'm sure.

Re: Blue Wish Desire
Shmups Twitter just passed along word from x.x that demo version 0.7 is out, including stage 5.

Rage Pro, Rage Fury, Rage MAXX!
Re: Blue Wish Desire
I hadn't. But I have now and I already like it better than Espgaluda.
Speaking of which, this stage 5 midboss looks awful familiar. I wonder how possible it'd be to collate a list of all the reference/homage/ripoff patterns seen in doujin games.

Available for purchase now. You can use PayPal on Booth so overseas buyers should not have any problems throwing handfuls of bills at X.X.

Windows Security keeps closing this as a severe virus threat, seemingly deleting the .exe in the process. I keep clicking 'allow' and popping the .exe back in the folder, but the same happens again a few minutes later. Is there any way to get my PC to calm down about it? (I bought it from Booth, so I assume it's a safe copy...)
Also, any idea how to enable a tate display?

BWR was a fantastic game. I'd expect nothing less from X.X Gameroom. This game looks like an insta buy.
This is version 1.00, so I'm assuming this is the full game and you can just download it after you buy it?

Re: Blue Wish Desire
Not that I can see, but it's definitely a vertically-oriented game with the right aspect ratio for it. I'm just wondering if there's some way to force the orientation in Windows...
Re: Blue Wish Desire
The full version's solution to the boss milking is pretty creative. Shooting the boss with an active hyper causes periodic explosions to mini cancel off of, which could be more profitable than only using the hyper for the activation cancel (and ramming a bullet right after so you can start charging another one). But there's no indicator for when the explosions are gonna go off so it's all down to feeling the timing. It's the ESP Ra.de influence again, not dissimilar to how parts destruction works in that game, although without the necessity for actual parts.

Re: Blue Wish Desire
Played a credit and a half.
Game over'd suprisingly early although I didn't know about the hyper. Seems like this might put up some challenge.
The ketsui cubes combined with the fountains are a nice touch. Pacing is intense, just as it should be. Also, there is zero slow down, I think BWR had fake slow down built in if I remember correctly.

Re: Blue Wish Desire
I kinda like the prerendered graphics vibe this game has going on. Like a ghetto Donkey Kong County, but it's kinda charming in it's own right.
Re: Blue Wish Desire
Just got the full version from Booth and loving it.
Is Blue Wish Desire less subtle than it looks? The hyper gauge and boss gauges seem to fill/deplete at the same rate whichever weapon I’m using, and the Ketsui cubes never seem to decay in value below 6.
Ha ha I am old and stupid now, so maybe I just need to pay more attention
Also any Easter eggs discovered yet?
In any case BWD is FUN, and for me that’s the bottom line these days.

Shmups Twitter notes not only that the Steam page is up, but x.x's freeware stuff (and Desire's demo) can now be downloaded from itch.io.

Re: Blue Wish Desire
Anyone care to check of this is one of those "DRM-free Steam games" that can run without Steam?
(aka can you copy the game out of your Steam folder and run it wherever)

Whoa, I was not expecting him to sell this. I sure am glad I can throw money at him, though.
Looks like he's rebooted the Eden's Eclipse project as well. x.x is back, baby!

This is one tough game, but since I've gotten a 1cc on one of his older titles, I will do my best to get one on this!
