DonPachi was a fun episode; it was really great to see how the game flowed due to high-level play. I think it made me appreciate much more how the stages were put together. The way the game picks up the aggression half-way through the first loop is satisfying -and the goofy "spawn 2 seconds after death" suicide bullets really force you to plan things carefully.

Makes me marginally excited for my copy of the port to arrive. 8)

That's quite a bit to cover. You could make at least 3 episodes covering every mode. Or sticking to the arcade modes?

Way excited about this, and it couldn't have been better timed! I already have plenty of questions on how to approach the game from my limited experience with it, and even my friend (who usually only gives shmups a cursory glance) may attend to learn some more. Look forward to seein' y'all in twitch!

It's #103. We just failed to mention the last touhou episode on this thread.

What was being said at 18 minutes? I listened to it five times, and could not understand a single word past "you'll get this attack, and after you-.

after you let it leave you get huge amount of hits by doing this.

They are talking about the bosses timeout attack where he releases lasers that you can use to drive the hits counter way up.

Sweet! Psikyo love. I wonder which character... Marion? Tavia? Or the elusive and death-defying Hei-Cob 2ALL!?!?

Oops! We postponed for next weekend's Saturday, time should be 2pm CST. Don't worry, the episode will be than it would have been tonight.

On that note, Astebreed is confirmed for next Sunday @ 2pm CST with Zaarock and MRydralle

My money's on GodHand's overall WR (with Aine), plus another run with a low-tier character.

Gunbird 2 is majestic. At first it appears a bit humdrum but it soon draws you in.

Not a massive fan of the 3D-ish parts but I like the rest of it graphically. And the final boss is a bit stupid.

The Dreamcast version has a novel single player dual character mode that gives you 4 lives and you alternate characters with each life loss. Also lets you see the 2 player story screens (if that's what you are into!). You also have an extra character on DC. You really need to play it in TATE mode though.

It's a shame we couldn't see a Gunbird 3. Gunbarich is a nice game, but a shmup it's not.

We generally all download a rip of the video when we sync-watch it, to avoid having to worry about buffering or otherwise taxing our networks. Thanks for the heads up though! :)

Also Morrigan from Darkstalkers; and you pretty much need an SDTV as the game gets significant slowdown in some parts when you trick it into VGA mode, which is unfortunate :(
I'd play way more Gunbird 2 if I had more than just a PC monitor for a display, or if the DC version worked through VGA
