50 points in one week is insane.

First roll of the week for me:

Shepardus - Mushihimesama Futari Black Label (MAME) (Original) - Reco - 3 - 69813194

Two incredibly stupid deaths on stage 2, one more moderately stupid death on stage 3. Such is how I play shmups.

What a coincidence, it happened to me when I was playing it days ago, on the same levels: a stupid lonely bullet hitted me while dodging. <_<

I just rolled Fairy Wars again, and Great Mahou Daisakusen after that.

Shepardus - Fairy Wars - Normal, Route B1 - 3 (Boss) - 11925780

I just 1cc'd all the routes in Normal last week, screwed up way too much on the stage 3 boss to do that again this time though.

Shepardus - Great Mahou Daisakusen - Karte - 3 - 778460

I have no idea how to play this game properly.

Don't have much time to play this week so i rolled Mars Matrix, Subterranean Animism and Exceed 3 Black Package.

Lilium - Mars Matrix - Stage 2 - 11b or whatever the red numbers mean.

Lilium - Subterranean Animism - Lunatic ALL (6 stages) - 938,731,980

Exceed 3 Black Package - Hard ALL (5 stages) - forgot to note the score.

- Really really suck at Mars Matrix. The whole reflector mechanic is somewhat alien to me and the lack of bombs means that there's no simple way of getting out of sticky situations so I failed it very fast ;_;
SA however is a very easy game for me. Given that I can clear this without bombs with a low amount of deaths to boot, it is no surprise that just casually playing it through for straight survival was bound to result in a clear.
Exceed 3 is a fun little game that isn't very hard but still has some fun things going for it. Maybe its just that rockin' soundtrack.

So that's like 23 points for me this week if my late night calculations aren't too off. Not too strong compared to last one.

For my last roll of the week, I rolled Cho Ren Sha 68K again. All these repeats are making it look like I have no more than half a dozen shmups... starting from next week I'll probably draw from my own list of games I actually have.

Shepardus - Cho Ren Sha 68k - 2-4 (7+4 stages) - 6557783

Yeah I won't make it an official rule, but I'd say anyone with a list of under 50 titles should probably download a MAME rom set for use in Death Roulette. I don't use MAME for it personally, but my list still has like 350 games on it (when you take into account arranges and such).

KMG - Viper Phase 1 (Japan, New Version) - Stage 2 - 377,225

**Other scores will be edited into this post.**

Viper Phase 1 - Holy crap, this game is rad. The first stage was silly though. The enemies literally let you take free shots at them while they fly around the screen and by the time you're lulled into a false sense of security, the boss finally shoots bullets at you. It got me killed twice which is pretty embarrassing but oh well. Had I remembered I wasn't playing a bullet-hell, I probably would have avoided those deaths but what can you do. :|

Very much in support. Currently I only have around 40 games available to me, a relatively low amount as what typically motivates me into getting a game on my system is watching a superplay of it that really impressed me while a game that doesn't look like fun isn't even worth trying out a rom for free for. Typically I prefer being able to actually buy stuff if I can and there's a good port available even though I'll likely play it in mame anyways.

But its not fair for the other players who have spent long shmupping lives hoarding up roms of games will have a much larger chance of encountering something they aren't skilled in so I wouldn't mind a rule that says you need "to have access to" at least a certain amount of titles.

I could have easily picked Futari Arrange when Restart Syndrome rolled me Futari 1.5 as it is listed under the Futari 1.5 list and Restart Syndrome does not roll modes for you. Of course I didn't take it because while Arrange Original or even Maniac would be an easy 1cc, it is completely lame, so I stuck with arcade 1.5. Arrange Ultra would be worthwhile now that there's credit for TLBs since Arrange still has the TLB on Ultra, but that's actually possible to screw things up on that mode, plus Arrange on 1.5 Futari is lame(especially the scoring where most of the points is Larsa).

Would definitely take Arrange on Pink Sweets if I rolled it because Arrange is a lot more fun(still probably wouldn't 1cc).

-S_Fang - ASO II-Last Guardian (NGM-007)(NGH-007) - Area1 - 61100 [IMG]
I'm not very good at the game, especially if it pulls the crap of removing most of your power-ups upon death, which I cannot stand.

-S_Fang - SRD: Super Real Darwin (World) - Area1 - 9380 [IMG]
Sight unseen, not a clue about how to get through the game.

-S_Fang - Ketsui ~Kizuna Jigoku Tachi~ - Tiger Schwerz - Area1 - 2703069(4th)[IMG]
I like the fact that you need to be point-blank to the enemies to get more points, but man if it's hard to dodge. Unless I use cheats or I train very hard, I'll never reach a Loop. :|

-S_Fang - Xexex - Area1 - 59800 [IMG]
Weird game, but it has a fun gimmick, which yeld great potential with enough practice.

-S_Fang - Tatsujin Ou/ Truxoton II - Area1 - didn't get into the Top 20 (AKA, I did not save a screenshot)
An hard game, considering that spawn you back to a certain point of the level rather than spawn you right away after you die.

And another night has passed, with me trying to get score for quantity than quality.

Got smashed this week. Those darn third stages. Thinking of getting rid of all my shooters except for Muchi Pork, than maybe I can win this.

Late start this week, let's get this done.

---

ACSeraph - Vulgus (360) - Stage 3 - 86,550

I've only ever tried this once and remembered it being really hard, but I did better than expected because it plays pretty similarly to 1942 which I've been into lately.

ACSeraph - Otomedius Excellent Score Attack - 1-EX2 Boss (9 Stages) - 2,095,400

I could probably consider this a clear since I beat all of the stages normally available. The DLC stages that follow are crazy hard, night and day from the standard ones.

ACSeraph - 2hu Scarlet Devil - Flying Pancake - Final Boss (6 stages) - digits

This was an incredibly bad run, were it not for this being DR I would have scrapped it at stage 2. Kinda depressed now, as despite how horribly it went I was seconds away from clearing. I've actually never cleared this before. I usually play for a couple days, always dying at Red Magic, and then get bored and go back to my 90's shit.

ACSeraph - Metal Black - Stage 3 Boss - 203,030

Really stupid game over milliseconds away from killing the stage 3 boss :| I mostly forgot my route, so things just generally didn't go well. Like Darius II you've gotta follow a pretty strict path here.

ACSeraph - Darius Twin - Stage 3 - meh

Honestly I think I've just succombed to exhaustion at this point. It's rare for me to not at least make it to the final stage. Death in stage 3 is almost unthinkable.

Loop 3 Final Score: 26

Not so good...

iast - Guwange - Kosame - 3 - ? (can't read score)

I only touched Guwange once years ago on the 360 version and found it very weird to control. Surprised I managed to get as far as I did.

iast - ESP Ra. De. - J-B - 2 - 1709840

Fun game but I'm terrible at strats with it.

iast - Ultra X Weapon - Jet-VTOL - 2 - 705900

Now I know why I don't play many Banpresto shmups...

iast - Formation Armed F - 3 - 259800

Now this is a cool game right here. I lost it at the stage 3 boss but man, I need more Nichibutsu in my life.

iast - 1943 Kai - 7 - 1385880

Another fun game but I forgot how much the difficulty ramps up near the end. I ended up dying on top of the battleship boss while I firing on him with cyclone activated (know that's safe to do in vanilla 1943, different here?).

I can't post this week's results until I have this info.

Put 2 stages for Space Bomber, it's Stage-Area basically. For Hellfire, I think that's stage 2?

This week I'm drawing randomly from my own list of stuff I actually have (total of 74 titles). My five for this week are:

Shepardus - Guwange - Shishin - 3 - ??? (forgot to record score)

Shepardus - Espgaluda 2 - Tateha - 3 - 7785578

Shepardus - Muchi Muchi Pork - Momo - 3 - 7193580

Shepardus - Tumiki Fighters - 5 - 638730

Shepardus - Sokyugurentai - Type I ship (or whatever the default ship is called) - 2 - 679040

I'll edit in my scores here as I get to each of these games. Doesn't look like I'm going to get many points this week from any game except maybe Tumiki Fighters... when will I get Cho Ren Sha again

Mahou Daisakusen: Pretty neat level designs. I couldn't handle the Stage 3 boss' dick waggling though.
Raiden Fighters Jet: Fuck scoring. Fuck playing as the familiar. Fuck this game. Went through the cycle of Level 01, 05, 15, 20
