I really liked that channel, but it must've taken up significant resources to run, because it went offline a couple of years ago and hasn't returned.

Alright, so I updated the playlist with the contents from page 4 and ALSO fixed the length of those "complete ost" videos just to show the track you guys were talking about.

And now, the show must go on!

The Shrine of Farewell is a track of almost legendary quality! Of course this is just an opinion, but I don't think there's a better track (for shmups at least) out there.

eh... While I do indeed love that track, and it does indeed make for one of the greatest shmup final bosses of all time, I don't think it's as amazing on it's own. I'm not saying I don't like it, I'm just saying it doesn't seem as good on it's own as the Shrine of Farewell does.

Probably the best track from the Valkyrius sound track. Sorry it isn't on YouTube:

Thanks for putting that playlist together!
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

The Rayforce ost kind of reminds me of Phantasy Star Onlines ost in some ways, actually.
Knew it'd be "Mobius." Tamayo really cranks up that inimitable dreamy discomfort of hers in the last few stages.

Every time I listen to it I think of Gunstar heroes. Anyone else?

also, go to 3:18 of this video for the shortest track ever, but an awesome one. I can't find the full one ANYWHEREEEE

How TF did I not notice until now that Tamayo used exactly the same "heartbeat" rhythm/motif in both The Fates and Intolerance, Rayforce and Raystorm's pre-final and final boss themes respectively?

Too much playing! Not enough listening! VGM casuals!

Does "Awakening" ever actually go beyond the point heard in the OST track? I seem to recall it just loops the guitar shuffle infinitely until the midbosses die, then Dobie crashes in with "Boss - Organic Type."

That climax is really the bit when your rice finally boils over on the stove and you go "FFFF" before switching the burner off. Never meant to last! (the boss BGM is the next bit where a bird slams into your kitchen window and makes you drop boiling rice all over your feet)

edit: I swear, even if my arms are blown clean off by a shorting XII Stag control panel, I'll still be happy just watching Delta replays. Image I forgot the POW armour's red laser is an EKG reading!

Probably a pretty mediocre game, but goddamn this soundtrack

Same composers behind the illustrious Hotdog Storm, comes バトルマニア大吟醸 (BATTLE MANIA DAIGINJOU)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cK4lTmNttY

Highly recommend the rest of the soundtrack, you won't be disappointed.

Oh yes, that OST rocks - love the shredding power chords and thumping drums, and the tunes are catchy and aggressive as hell. Power pop heavy metal via MD. "Twilight Express," "Blue Sky Laundry," "Burning Heart" and the short (it's an intermission BGM) but unforgettable "Navigators" are some of my favourites. "Open Mind" (attract BGM) is an addictive little riff too - wouldn't sound out of place on Thunder Force IV's OST. IIRC it uses the same sound driver as Kyuukyoku Tiger MD, another standout power rock MD soundtrack.

Guitars so fat they're clinically obese

The game itself is a "nice, but..." case. Awesome personality, solid engine, decent shooter design overall, but it never truly distingushes itself. The weaponised bombing is welcome as always and the 8-way strafe is satisfying, but it lacks the level design to really push either mechanic. It's also rare and expensive complete. Helluva fun ride for what it is.
