Soldier Blade (PSP) - Stage 4 Mid-boss

I like how the game only shows you your score for like 2 seconds after you game over

This was my very first ever run of this game. Seems pretty awesome, love the music too.

Coincidentally, I had my very first run at this game yesterday and reached the same point before getting a game over. Awesome game indeed and the soundtrack really stands out.
Also, if you press select on the title screen, you can access the high scores for each mode.

Yeah it's all pretty easy until that point. The game gives out extends like candy. Thanks for that info about scores, I'll keep that in mind for next time I play it.

Eno hoarded 5 creditz.

He gets to make everyone, including me ,play a shmup next. Scores will be posted normally, you can also roll a game if you want but you only get one credit if you also play it.

Don't think I did. If I counted right Mazinger gave me 4 credits, Cotton would make it 5 but I used one credit to try to vindicate my horrible stage 1 score(which didn't pan out orz) so I should still have 4.

Well then, this will be #5 for me:

Cho Aniki - Benten - Stage 1 Boss - 10010

Randomizer be trolling me this morning. I have no idea how this game is played. I just downloaded it off of PS+ a few days ago but hadn't played it yet.

So does that mean I get to choose then? :P

How's that? Since you changed the rules I've played:

Raiden
Darius Burst
Super EDF
Soldier Blade
Cho Aniki

...and I haven't used any credits (hence all the embarrassingly low scores  )

So I should have 5 credits and 1 re-roll by my count.

Rules stipulate 2 other people have to play before I can roll again. Otherwise you'd be getting like 20 rolls a day from me

I played the PC version, which seems to have some kind of autofire by default. I tap faster than it though, so I declare myself legit.

Well, at least ACSeraph picked a cool game, and it is harder not using auto-fire. Got 134750 in Stage A, almost killed the first boss:

Don't worry that is auto-off. The game has a built in auto-fire, but there's a game breaking cheat code in the Saturn version that bumps it to 0 delay and shallows the game immensely. Setting a 0 delay autofire in MAME has the same effect.

There's something of a controversy about whether 0 delay is legit or not since on the one hand the game was clearly designed around the slower default auto-fire, but on the other 0 delay is standard in Japanese arcades and official scoring.

So basically, I don't really care how you play Gaiden, but imo the game is shallowed imensely by 0 delay, so I wanted to force everyone to at least try it once in it's original intended format.

For anyone interested in pursing the auto-off clear, my advice is this: DO NOT TAP CONSTANTLY. There is no need for it. THe default autofire is there to allow you to rest your thumbs during sections that don't require a high rate, so that when you really need to mash quickly on bosses and meaty enemies you have the energy to do it. It's quite elegent design if you ask me. Also unlike auto-on you will need to learn to use your missiles properly. Finally, plan your bombs, and when you use them on bosses sit on top of them (you wont die while the bomb is active even if you touch the boss) and point blank mash like crazy for mad damage. It feels great. Back off when the lighting flashes to signify the black hole is closing.

Anyhow I hope you guys enjoy the experience. Don't believe it when people say the game is unfairly difficult with auto-off or it breaks your thumbs. It's not true and the game is extremely rewarding to learn without the shallow auto-fire crutch.

I'll get around to my own attempt at it this evening.

Heck, why not. Picked a game I never played before to make things more interesting.

Exed Eyes
Ruldra - 68,100 - Round 2

Lost a life right in the beginning because I thought the green orbs were part of the scenery. Lost another life immediately after because the bomb doesn't actually kill enemies. In short, the run was a disaster but at least I broke the default hi-score.

This game sucks.

I was worried my ability would have deteriorated after not playing for a few months, but I seem to have mostly retained it and cleared on my first try. Not my best score, but I'm satisfied with it. I'll go play a random game now too since I picked this one.

ACSeraph - Sonic Wings 3 (Neo Geo CD) - Whity - Stage 5 - 215,600

Follow up Strikers with the wacky rip-off. Despite being derivative it's a pretty damn good game, I fought a mecha Tokyo Tower in the first 10 seconds, so you know it's doing something right. Also, I picked the Dolphin because he's a fucking dolphin.
