I take it this is mobile only? I'm not sure how this even plays unless it auto aims for you.

It worked ok as a twin stick shooter on 360.

Yes, it's a mobile game. Basically, anyone who liked Gothic wa Mahou Otome might like this, but probably nobody else here will.

Someone mentioned Nintendo earlier. I'd be interested to see what they would make of the genre actually. Their takes on 3D shooting (Splatoon) and vs fighting (Smash) are well crafted and interesting.

They aren't a company for pushing the shooting mechanic though - at least not so much now. Their toy making history has quite a lot of that - they used to make light gun games with physical targets. They even had a duck shooting game that projected images of the targets onto a wall.

They created early examples - Sheriff aka Bandido is a an early arena style shooter that i remember enjoying in the arcade. Their attempt at a straight up shmup - Space Firebird - was a flop (those cabinets were converted to Donkey Kong) but if Nintendo do one thing really well it's learn from their mistakes and successes.

They would come up with something interesting and worth playing that's for sure.

On the History tab they say this for 2019:

"Established capable Co., Ltd. as a consolidated subsidiary and started multi-channel network business"

And this for 2020:

"Cave becomes the managing company and establishes a smartphone game production committee (name undecided) with TV Asahi Co., Ltd."

Doesn't exactly scream 'New Mushihimesama', does it?

They are likely making money from licensing deals with exA-Arcadia. I just went into BEEP last Sunday and there were a few Akai Katana EXA Label ads there, as I guess that's their newest thing or whatever.

In 2021 they launched a live stream fortune telling service called sen sen.

https://www.sensen.jp/
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and you'll find the Cave logo.

So tell me, Kagla, is a DDP 2-ALL in my future?

Sad that CAVE is reduced to this, although I've no idea what the hell "this" even is and I doubt anyone outside of CAVE or exA-Arcadia does either. At least they still kind of exist. Their financial stuff is actually on their website and very easy to access, but that stuff is above my Japanese reading level. Hopefully someone cool like Yuge-san or M2 or Hamster buys the rights to their shit when they officially die so that proper home releases actually have a not-zero chance of existing in the future.
