The Last Starfighter for NES.....

Post by dave4shmups »

Just played this one on an emulator; dang it's a tough shmup! According to a FAQ I read on this game, it was an attempt by Mindscape to clone Uridium for the C64. How does Uridium compare to The Last Starfighter?

From what I heard, the NES game of The Last Starfighter IS Uridium with the license slapped on.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Interesting. Are there any bosses in the game? I haven't come accross any yet.

I read somewhere that Last Starfighter is Uridium 2 with a new name slapped on, not Uridium 1.

Yup, the Last Starfighter movie was about some kid who got a high score on some video game (secretly a test to find good pilots) and was chosen by aliens to go fight some other aliens. Pretty cool movie. Atari was going to do a bunch of games based on it, but the movie didn't do as well as they expected it would. Who knows why Mindscape dug up the old movie license for a NES game.

Uridium is SO much better than that last starfighter NES game.

I can tell you it IS definitely a clone of URIDIUM 1 and not 2.

The control on the NES game SUXXXXXXX!!!!!

The c64 original controls VERY nicely, but not that piece of crap the NES version is.

That movie was great... I read it was the first movie to have all special effects - well, all space scenes - done with a computer (many of Tron's effects were actually old-skool photo effects and hand-drawn animation).

Wow, sounds like a flick I need to watch!

So, does anyone know if this game is Uridium, a sequel to Uridium, etc?

I used to have the PC Uridium. Unfortunetly, I don't remember too much about it. I remember it controlling well, though.

I think IT IS a Uridium port with a license splatted on it. I remember It has the "Graftgold" logo on it. Graftgold is the company behind Uridium.

The movie is GREAT. I remember once somewhere in this froum said it was THE SHMUP MOVIE. :D

Uridium 2 , AFAIK, is still exclusive to Amiga. Great game.

You should be able to get the movie on DVD for about $12. There's a cool special edition out too.
