If that's the case I don't think the way you turn it matters, though you might want to have a quick look here for an additional tip or two.

Is the proper extend settings for Radiant Silvergun only for 1million and 3million points, or do they use one of the "every X points" extend settings?

It seems extraordinarily cruel to have the game confine you to something like 4 lives for the whole memorizer marathon.

At least in this video, the extends are at 1 and 5 million only.

A week later, but man, that's still harsh, ha. Not that the difference between 3 and 5 million is all that great; you'll get both extends "early" into the game, and have to make due from there! I guess Treasure really DID design the game around Story Mode, eh?

===

The PS4 release of Battle Garegga has deflated the price, slightly, around the Saturn port. I may be crazy to consider it, but I'll ask anyway: are the YOKO modes in Battle Garegga's saturn port worth a damn? I tried testing things in Soukyogurentai Otoyuko, which has the first level of Garegga, but the only screen options it has are wobble YOKO, and two forms of TATE. I think there's a full-screen YOKO in the Saturn port, going off the ST thread, but there's mixed opinions about it. Anyone want to chime in?

Yes yes, I know, if you ain't TATE'ing Garegga, you're missing the point, but be charitable with me!

Keep in mind that I tend to be pickier than most when it comes to bullet visibility, but in my experience Garegga on Saturn is particularly difficult to make out in yoko, I definitely need tate to find it playable. Haven't tried the 2016 rev, so I can't speak for that.

Hi,

I am looking for a shmup which i played in the arcades around 1980-1990. But i dont know the name, and i hope if i describe as good as i can what it looked like somebody can tell it. Cause i want to know for so long know, but i cannot find it anywhere.

Dont remember alot though. It is a horizontal shmup. Before the game starts, you get an intro video, with real video, in a scyfy setting. Just a little scene with some guys in captainkirk like clothes on telling what to do.

Than the game starts. Background are real pictures, from a city or something like that.

I think the enemy bullits where yellow. Or blue, not sure anymore.

And that is all i know..... not much, but maybe some guy recognises something. The movie scene like intro and inbetween levels film footage can be a big clue. Cause i hardly know any of them.

Anybody any thoughts?

can someone remind me how the mechanics of espgaluda work again? i can't remember what you need to do to get more gems out of enemies, and when you're in kakusei mode do you tap enemies with shot to make them poop out more bullets which cancel into the gold ingots?

In Last Hope: Pink Bullets, can you unlock freeplay or does it always have the default amount of credits?

Increase your over level (let the blue ring around your character fill up in overheat mode) 3 times and destroys enemies while they're in in the top ~20% of the screen for extra gems. Lightly shooting medium/large enemies is just to weaken them for a quick kill once they fill the screen with bullets.

Also worth noting that in Galuda 1 "Over Level" resets when you die, but lasts the rest of the credit in Galuda 2.

That aint the game sadly. It is a horizontal shmup like r-type, flying to the right.

I also searched on Phillips cdi games, but cannot find it there either. I cannot stand this, haha. How difficult can it be, i found all my old arcade games i ever played, but this one.

Ps.... Nintendo Switch is awesome for shmups. I am playing strikers 1945 and that game is still fantastic. I could 1 credit that game long time ago, now i cannot get passed target 5 yet. Getting old or just a bit rusty on the shmupskills? :-)

Ah well.... lets hope some one can help me find my horizontal arcade shmup with real cut-scenes. And real pictures or rendered? As a background.

Are there any good TwinBee fangames? Asking for, um, a friend. Before someone says that "good" and "TwinBee" are mutually exclusive, I mean something that feels like TwinBee and not just any old shooter with some TwinBee sprites (so at least have some form of bell juggling). Parodius kind of counts but I'm already well aware of that series.

Nope, haha, ;-). Background should be real pictures. And the intro is a video scene with real people.

I was googling myself again after i asked this few days ago. And then i came back on this forum, me asking the same question.... 7 years ago... Haha!!!

Made me smile... on the other hand... i may never find out which game it was....

Noob problem here...
Last week I'd picked up a second hand Hori Fighting Stick VX from Tokyo...
My laptop can register the stick, no problem... Steam can register the stick, also no problem...
The problem is, it's not working on MAME :!:
I've fiddled around the settings and also checked online for answers but with no luck
Never had this problem before but I was using a different Hori Fighting Stick (the MadCatz one), could that be the problem :?:

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Which shmups of the modern era got dedicated cabinets?

I have seen an image of a Gigawing cabinet but I assumed most modern games are released as PCBs for use in a JAMMA cabinet. Anyone know what the last dedicated shmup was?

Hmm...maybe joy2key?
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Did you check “enable joysticks” in the properties?

What's this 'joy2key'? Is it a software to run the stick? I've got this XBCD on my laptop already to run my previous 360 stick...

joy2key is a program that can map keyboard commands onto a joystick. So even if a game doesn't natively support joysticks, you can still use it with this. XPadder is another similar program.

No problem with joy2key, it's just not registering in MAME
Getting really frustrate, probably a really simple solution but I can't solve it :!:

Progear - How is the "anti-alchemy" working ? (it refers to turning jewelry into stones, or better said, my poor attempt to appear interesting  )

So, as far a i could grasp on my own, after i shoot (tap, tap) a few enemies just as they are releasing bullets or while they are passing through some bullets shot by other enemies, those bullets turn into jewelry and it's all good as i have less bullets to dodge, but not enough as there are still too many bullets to dodge.

If immediately after i absorb a fair amount of jewels, i laser (keep the button pressed), sometimes every bullet on screen (or at least 80%) turns to stone and it's clear sailing for a couple of seconds. How is this actually achieved? What should i be aware of in terms of jewelry? Is there something i can "save for later" or am i supposed to dance between jewelry and stones? What exactly are the conditions for turning bullets to stones, and are they just like in the jewels case, just bullets caught in big explosions?

Please share your knowledge.

Thanks!

Killing enemies with rapid shot ("fighter mode") will cause all bullets near that enemy to be turned into rings, in a fairly large radius. The more rings that are already on screen, new rings that are created will be of higher and higher rank (purple -> red -> green -> white). If you pick up a ring that's higher value than what you currently have (the icon in the lower-left), yours will be raised to that level. So, try to spawn a ton of rings on-screen all at once until diamond rings appear, rather than picking them up incrementally.

Killing enemies with focus shot ("gunner mode") will cause all bullets near that enemy to be turned into gemstones. This initial cancel has a smaller radius than using rapid shot, but cancelled bullets can "chain" to other nearby bullets and cause them to be canceled as well. The higher your ring value (again, the icon in the lower-left), the larger this chain cancel distance becomes. This means that if you have diamonds stocked, it's pretty easy to cancel huge clouds of bullets, as long as it's at least somewhat dense. It's much harder to do big cancels with a lower ring level, but it's still possible especially if the cloud of bullets is extremely dense. Once you cancel any bullets in gunner mode and then let go of the focus shot button, all onscreen gems will be sucked into your ship, and your ring value will be reset to minimum.

As a survival technique, this means that you can get diamonds and then just hold down the focus shot button to get continuous bullet cancels throughout a long difficult section as long as you never let go of the button. It has some downsides (you won't score as well, focus shot is generally weaker than rapid shot, and you can't easily control which enemies your gunner shoots at), but it can still be useful.

Ok, thanks for the answer. So what i couldn't figure out was, the canceled bullets chaining to other bullets, cancelling them as well. Also the high jewels value causing larger cancels was somewhat avoiding me...

There is a degree of "non-linearity" to this game compared to other Cave games i feel. This makes it quite intense.
