NAVE - indie "survival shmup" game from Argentina

Post by Akira »

Just caught this which has been made in my hometown and I thought it was pretty cool:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XgWLxxeeLw

You have to grow your ship and resists as much time as possible. It's monochromatic and seems pretty manic!
Unfortunately for most, you can only play this arcade game wherever these guys put one. They haven't done many and I think they haven't gone with it outside to other countries, which is a shame. Their website is http://videogamo.com/ and perhaps someone can help them out with taking it somewhere else. It's cool that they wanted to keep it in arcade format only, designing the cabinet and all that.

I really like to see this because, for one, there's practically no indie game scene in my country. Teh second reason, is that I like that the ywill stick to arcade-only format.

The game itself seems manic enough for the hardcore shmupper :D

It seems like an interesting concept.
Although... when the ship got so big it couldn't move, that bothered me a bit.

I can definitely appreciate it being designed entirely for the arcades.
Being a time based survival game seems interesting.

It'd be really neat if there'd be any way for this to show up at my "local" arcade, Arcade Odyssey, the owner there seems like he'd be interested in putting this on the floor. Definitely runs his arcade more like a collection that just happens to take money in, and something like this would be right at home.
And that cabinet in that picture looks so boss, like it'd be right at home sitting in the Death Star's rec room, haha. Very stylish.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Flash shmup in a dedicated cab? Wicked idea! They should consider at least releasing it for the winnitron.

Sure'd be great if this indie arcade cab of NAVE would make a special apperance at the upcoming 2013 California Extreme show. They're always looking for new and cool indie arcade game cabs to show off. Of course, the logistics of getting it shipped on an 747 all the way to San Jose airport in California and then transported to Santa Clara would be something else. Will require some serious $$$$ to make it a reality though.

Hi! This is Hernán one of the developers of NAVE.

Thanks to everyone for commenting on the post, specially to Akira for starting it.

KAI: En nuestra página de Facebook vamos posteando las fechas y lugares donde se puede jugar el juego http://www.facebook.com/videogamo

null1024: That would be so great. If someone invited us or we could get the money for transport, we'd love to show the game.

Dave_K.: Winnitron is really cool. We should try that!

PC Engine Fan X!: We didn't know the California Extreme show. We'll contact them and see what happens! Thank you!!!

Observer: Lo mismo que a KAI, sumate a http://www.facebook.com/videogamo que ahí vamos posteando. Gracias!

Glad you like the concept guys! Stay in touch.

Gracias Akira!

Hi there! We have some new stuff to share with you:

Here's a spot we've just made to relaunch and promote NAVE:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOoIyhrcHaY
Image

And here's a new FB page that we specially created for the game, containing data about the tour and exclusive stuff:

http://www.facebook.com/NAVEArcade

We are starting to plan how to take the arcade on tour out of our country.
We are gathering information about events or people that might be interested in having the game, so we can plan a trip where we get most out of it (to reduce costs).

So, if you know some place, event or people that might be interested let us know!
And, if you like the spot please help us spreading it, so more people know about the project and we have more chances of making the tour a reality.

Thanks!!!

We totally will! They say the Outerlands series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjVfeFJuKTs) will be on next year so the episode about NAVE could maybe push our US tour to happen. We're also willing to take it to the series premiere, but still don't know. Meanwhile we'll be going to a couple of northamerican cities with DOBOTONE (https://www.facebook.com/DOBOTONE). That will be on February. Toronto and San Francisco. Feel free to check that out.

Thanks for the necrobump!

First time I've seen this; looks awesome. Is the soundtrack available anywhere?

Only one arcade cabinet? Interesting idea! ... any hope for a separate release?

The game has only one song for soundtrack, but you can unlock "Secret Tracks" specially made by different artists by entering konami code like secret moves. Here are some of them on soundcloud:

https://soundcloud.com/videogamo/sets/n ... soundtrack

About the separate release, we don't discard that, but our idea is to travel around the world with the original arcade first!
