Chaos Field -expanded- Gamecube vids (revealing)!

Post by Super Laydock »

Milestone has put up a movie of the GC version of Chaos Field, and it looks kinda smooth (imo). Looks like it's no strict boss-fest only anymore (check the first scenes of the vid). Got me interested! :D

This does seem different from my DC version... oh, my poor wallet.

Pretty good stuff- and having a few small fry enemies here and there has to be great for something. I'm tempted.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Yup, this looks like everything the DC version should have been.
(Looks into wallet. Cries.)

Thanks for the heads-up, Super Laydock!

Whoa! This is like Chaos Field 1.5!

Now I have to decide whether to hold on to my DC version or just splurge and buy the GC one as well.
Good luck or cry.

I'm waiting for a DC to arrive, so I'll get that version, and have no regrets. Because even with these changes in Chaos Field for the GameCube, the DC is still a far superior console for shmups, IMO.

First off. I fucking love that BGM remix.

And it wouldn't be too bad to have the actual small enemies every now and again, to sort of flesh out the whole First Assailant->Mid-Boss->Main Guardian formula of CF's phases..

....eh. A sad trend indeed. As grateful as I am to be playing CF, (and Psyvariar 2 for example) on the DC, it sucks that they're just vanilla ports, whilst the multiplatform releases have that nice layer of polish that makes the package more enjoyable throughout (extra options, arrange modes, slowdown fixes, what have you). I bet the GC version actually saves score data.

Not really complaining about DC releases, mind you. But come on, just look at the video. There's like...NO slowdown. XD

I'm glad that Milestone made the effort to add to the GCN version of the game. It's nice seeing a developer actually add to a version of a game that comes later for GCN rather than go the Bodakai 2 route and make a late port of a game with very little added.

Slowdown can be advantageous, especially in a shmup with as many bullets as Chaos Field has.

Too bad none of the DC versions have the soundtrack; it sounds really great!

It can be or sometimes it can just be annoying like in shiki2, I'd much rather have it optional than forced upon me because of dated hardware.

Only included with pre-orders from Sega Direct, it's the remix CD vol. 2.

There's the remix CD vol. 1 included with the DC version, which was only through Sega Direct as well.

The full Chaos Field OST is sold seperately and widely available.

Thanks for that bit of info Oxtsu!

Are there new weapons in the GC version? What are those yellow-circle things that the ship uses to destroy the boss in the GC video?
