And the reason I am not personally contacting him is because, well, one of his long-established forum users would have a much higher chance of success. I know I wouldn't give my site to the first stranger who asked me for it, so there's nothing strange here.

And btw, let me just say that the secret to not getting burned out on anything, and going through these wasteful up and down cycles (because make no mistake about it: EOJ will be back sooner or later, like they all do) is to goddamn pace yourself. Of course if you are playing these games every day, and especially at autism level, and at the same time updating a blog about them, posting in a forum, and also administering said forum, you are headed straight for burnout, and not even the kind that results in cool explosions, but the whimpering, pathetic kind.

In short: videogames rule and CAVE IS 4EVAR. I really get annoyed when I hear that someone is "quitting" games. Does anyone ever quit books or music or movies? It's just that it's easier to overdose on games because they are so much more fun, so pay attention to that and don't fall into the trap.

Their site's gone, but all the videos are still up on their YT channel.

They made highly satirical reviews of shitty popular mainstream and indie games, using ridiculous stoner college kid personas. Some of it was just trolling, but there was often a lot of serious reasoned criticism mixed in. They got the most attention for their rightfully scathing reviews of Minecraft, Fez and Terraria.

One of the members is going to start doing pretty much the exact same thing again on a new site. He was the only guy who wanted to keep the site running when the others had gotten tired of it, which is why it shut down.

What was up with Danmaku-Gata? Never heard of that site.

Although I was a comparatively new member, I'll miss it. Interesting content, no bullshit, and for the most part very friendly.

I think that's the problem with running a videogame forum (especially one dedicated to such a niche, largely single-player genre) with heavy restrictions on the "social" aspect: you end up with just a few members that rarely post and a bunch of lurkers, and it becomes difficult to stay motivated enough or find the cost justifiable enough to keep it going as a result. I think Cave-STG would work a lot better as a wiki than as a forum.
