On another note, rtw was kind enough to scan the Toaplan Shooting Chronicle CD Box interview with Uemura and Yuge for me. As deep as these Shooting Gameside interviews got, I have to say... damn :!: . While it inevitably covers some similar ground, it also has a game-by-game "Hardcore Q&A" section with Uemura and Yuge that covers even more fine details about everything from Tiger Heli up through V-V. Nothing about that red Tatsujin board though! :( Anyway, this is on the back burner in favor of some other stuff, but hopefully I'll get to it next month or later in the summer.
YOU ROCK!

You are truly great blackoak. Even Dimahoo itself couldn't question you on the matter. I'd feel seriously ungrateful to ask for more of you, but thanks in advance for anything else you choose to translate.

I'm currently bidding on a couple Gamest mags on YAJ, which look to have some promising stg content. I may also put out a call for scans from anyone who has Toaplan/Raizing/Namco/Technosoft/Cave/etc interview material they'd like to see translated. I know GaijinPunch had some stuff he was selling awhile back, I should get in touch with him and see if its still for sale/worth translating. Also, 5/31 Shooting Gameside #5 comes out with a Technosoft feature, which I'm really looking forward to! Hopefully there will be some good interviews there.
I can't think of anything off the top of my head in Gameside that I ranked as "must be translated". I started one like... fuck me... two years ago, from Continue, which I will one day finish. The Continue interviews are extremely long... but full of awesome. They're not STG related though. The only one in normal Gameside that I think was all STG was Shooting With Treasure.

There are a couple in Continue that I think need to be done, but I've just got too much shit on my plate now (a lot of it real shit) to get to them. They are by and large aimed at retro games as a whole, and focus on people/companies who spanned multiple genres. A lot of them I've found that start great and then at some point wind up making turds. :|

There is one interview with Inoue in one of the last issues of Gamest, before it became Arcadia. I've only skimmed it, and that was a while ago. AFAIK, it's strictly design-oriented during Guwange. I recall him mentioning a lot of books which inspired some of the monsters. It is probably nowhere near as informative as The Man Who Made Guwange & ESPRade which was a daunting task but pure enjoyment. I think I still have this issue. If you want to tackle it (or even see if it's worth it), I can definitely scan the pages for you and send it on. Not sure how much new info is there. Some of the Cave interviews feel a little regurgitated to me as there's been so many.

There is one final Cave interview I wanted to do, and never could get a hold of it. It's in an obscure doujinshi. I have all the other things of interest from that circle (and they cost me dearly) but I never put them up on gamengai b/c I didn't want anyone else to get wind of them, making it harder for me to attain them. There's one other Toaplan book which may or may not have some good info on the underbelly of Toaplan, but it as well is amazingly difficult to find. My auction service scours Yahoo Japan, and in 4 years, it has shown up twice. Once was with some hand-drawn Batsugun sketches which went to retarded levels, and another time it showed up by itself but was too rich for my blood. In the end: never got either. :( I've written them off as unattainable now, and even if I got them, I'd not have the time to translate them assuming they're worth it. Woe is me.

Final-final thing that I think should be translated but I won't touch it are the 3-4 interviews w/ the Kikikaikai development team, including OGR who did sound. They're ALL very long though, but very indepth. Great book, if you can get a hold of it.

EDIT: That was a good read. Well done. ;)

If scans are needed from the Kikikaikai book I can help.
