Looks like a high-res shmup homage to the old-school Toaplan shmups of lore. Like the T-800 series endoskeleton tribute in the Valhellio YT video.

Whom did the character designs for Valhellio and is there an unlockable omake character art gallery?

And will you be stocking this new doujin shmup title as well, rancor?

It'd be cool to see the Valhellio lead female characters posing in their bikini attire.

Btw, the zipped Valhellio demo is a 240MB file.

Looks nice enough. I'm not that impressed by the muddy backgrounds, but the ship sprites and buildings look very nice. The game seems solid.

Also: Boobs. And Asscheeks.

Yes, it's Tony drawing for a shmup.

I for once I'm glad this thing is on the PC so I'll be picking it up for my birthday. DAT ASS warrants it.

Tried out the demo. Wish there was a way to set the difficulty higher, as it was a snore. The main scoring mechanic seems to be dropping those balls that cancel bullets.

I got 8.3m attempting to play it for score.

Giving a big fat meh unless someone can show me that I'm doing it wrong .. :P

In fact I would dare to say... that this shmup will get more copies sold just because his art is there...

Oh... and it won't drop from tens of thousands copies sold if it has H on it

This is exactly what I thought just watching that video. Especially compared to ∀kashicverse which was in the youtube video right above Valhellio.

In the future, everyone wears skintight bodysuits and has erect nipples!

*sigh* -_-... tasteful art, game developers! I'd like to be able to show my shmups to my non-otaku friends without being embarrassed for once!

Other than griping about the character art, it both sounds and looks cool, if the preview soundtrack sounds anything like the in-game music.

Guess I'll give it a trial and see how it plays.

What do you mean, in the future? That's pretty much the standard dresscode for shmups forum members. You'd be surprised if you knew how many people around here type their posts with their nipples.

You seem to know more about this than the rest of us, got any vids showing a decent score run?

Tony Taka as a character designer for a shmup? Awesome!

Let's not forget that Sega hired Tony Taka for Shining Tears' character design, so drawing for a shmup should not be such a big surprise.

I'm on it, guys. Should have news on Tuesday.

edit: wow.. This is an expensive game! There's a deluxe package and a standard.. Seems the standard may break my current $30 doujin threshold..

Just as an aside, will you also be stocking Stella Vanity cos it's looking like that might be difficult to obtain for the occidental market too?

I've sent emails (unanswered) and been to every doujin shop in Akihabara and can't find any info about either of these games. I'm going out for attempt #2 today... Not sure why these two games are so difficult to find info on. Most shops have special displays setup for C81 titles, but no sign of either of these. :|

Derp, the initial physical batch is faulty and they're offering a gigantic (435mb) patch.

Even in the year 2257, Tony Taka's art all looks the same...
I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.

I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

I had no problem getting it at Toranoana. When I was there they had the trailer showing so I just asked for the game in it.
